Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 15, 2017 (edited December 26, 2019)My new favorite - all the good things about wild turkey are centrifuged down into this bottle, they left the filler behind. Super great, left me wanting more . Here goes with the subjective chunder: Spicy, sweet, cherry, slight touch of dark chocolate and Carmel, cinnamon, gasoline, apples. I’ll buy this again and again. Similar to Bakers which is also one of my favorites. -
Don Julio Añejo Tequila
Tequila Añejo — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed October 15, 2017 (edited January 2, 2018)👍🏼👍🏼 Hands down; the best tequila for the $$. *1942 is slightly smoother, but IMO this has a fuller flavor. -
Booker's Bourbon Batch 2016-02 "Annis' Answer"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 15, 2017 (edited April 24, 2018)So I’m listening to the bourbon pursuit podcast, which is fun, interesting, boring, and awesome; ...which is perfect.... and I hear an interview with what I recall was a man; a younger legacy in the beam family- with a highly highly specific, almost designed southern accent (like some variation of Larry the cable guy) talking about pouring bookers “into sausages” and over his meat on a bbq grill- I can only imagine there’s a camo hat and a HUGE mess of ORVs in close proximity to this man at all times. ;My point is that This recording has been burned into my brain- and I can’t seem to get it out. Every time I reach for this delicious bottle- I can hear this man and his southern cadence casually murmuring “bookerrthss” This stuff is no less than amazing - but now I’m haunted.. thanks bourbon pursuit! -
Parker's Heritage Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon 24 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 13, 2017 (edited November 22, 2018)Amazing nose, maybe the finest mesmerizing nose in bourbon for me thus far. mouth feel is full The age is apparent based on complexity and smoothness- it has both. You know that much of the “bullshit” evaporate out of this mix years ago. Flavors are mint, clove, oak, vanilla, cinnamon, with a mild Carmel finish. The heat on the finish is about a 5. Try it based on its uniqueness, however- paying $200+ for a bottle seems a bit silly- there are plenty of lower priced options that perform nicely (belle Meade single barrel, weller 12, EC barrel proof, crown rye) Oh, and by the way- all of you online secondary Market price gougers and pappy counterfeiters can kiss my ass.😘 -

Stagg Jr Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch 1
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 14, 2017 (edited December 25, 2017)I REALLY REALLY WANTED TO LIKE THIS BOTTLE--- I really did, I love buffalo trace and initially I was super excited to dive in hard planning to vigorously consume a 3 finger pour of this bad boy; it had that signature BT mashbill nose on it-..... but sadly that's where it ENDED .. the proof is killer high, it has an intensly zippy spice that ricochets around your mouth as the burn and floral tastes quickly encompas your whole face and throat- then -- nothing... BURN, FIRE, - but very little body. Disappointing. On a positive note: the flavor is interesting, and unique- but the delivery far from enjoyable or approachable - I couldn't imagine ANYONE making Stagg Jr. part of their routine whiskey rotation. Before I blew $60 on this bottle I read a memorable quote referring to it as a "hot mess" - they were SPOT ON. Good luck. -
Henry McKenna 10 Year Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 14, 2017 (edited October 4, 2017)"Bourbon" ....I can't say that I recall anything different or interesting about the flavor. I'd recommend using this bourbon as a benchmark for a higher proof tasting before giving your friends something really interesting. . -
Light liquid booze candy that won't get me hammered from a substantial pour- I don't understand why people bash this label so much?- I think it's smooth, balanced, with an exceptional mouth feel right out of the bottle - for the neat drinker - consistent ever time without having to add water. Even if it is just OGD 114 watered down... I'll buy it again

Larceny Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 7, 2017 (edited August 22, 2019)I need to give this another try- I can recall that I dumped this out after a few sips- but the my tasting was sandwiched between a few other hot, high rye bourbons; it tasted very cheap. For a wheated bourbon; one might expect something a little smoother with a contiguous muddling of interwoven flavor notes (like Weller and Maker's do so gracefully).. this is far from the case. LARCENY as with many of HH products to me ALL taste very similar.. bitter smokey, disjointed flavor pallet, a thin mouth feel, punctuated by a slight jab sweetness similar to that of sweet n' low in 4 hour old coffee. -
WhistlePig Old World Cask Finish Rye 12 Year
Rye — Indiana (bottled in Vermont), USA
Reviewed July 22, 2017 (edited February 25, 2021)If Michelangelo had tasted this delicious rye prior to painting the sistine chapel the hand of god might have been painted passing a bottle of Whistlepig Old World to Adam. Excellent elixir.
