Auchrosik 7 Year (SMWS# 95.44)
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed September 29, 2021 (edited September 30, 2021)Dark complex aroma, pla touch of sweet, probably the red wine. Tastes absolutely fantastic, tons of pepper spice and caramel sweetness. It tastes much more like a bourbon to me than a scotch, fairly rich, creaminess accentuates the sweetness. Abv a touch high bit still quite enjoyableThe Barrel Thief -
Westland American Single Malt
American Single Malt — Washington, USA
Reviewed September 20, 2021 (edited September 30, 2021)Dark caramel and burn on the nose. Fiery oak on the pallete, good burn but just a hair too thin. Would've loved some more richness. Some vanilla sweetness carries on to the tail with the wood, the proof helps it tingle for a while. Mostly oak flavor, not unpleasant.Westland Distillery -
Westland Cask Exchange 7 Bellwether
American Single Malt — Washington, USA, USA
Reviewed September 20, 2021 (edited September 30, 2021)Super interesting aroma, reminds be of baking spices, gingerbread, clove. Like a kitchen on Christmas. Some cinnamon spice on the tongue, medium to full richness, with a long creamy tail. I would love this on a cold snowy night. Burn compliments the tail and richness well. The same nutty spice flavors linger through the tail with some chocolate. Absolutely love itWestland Distillery -
Westland Colere Edition 1
American Single Malt — Washington, USA
Reviewed September 20, 2021 (edited December 31, 2021)Mostly barley on the nose, pretty strong aroma. Quite thin, but pairs just fine with the flavors. Light almost honey sweetness with barely flavors as well. Light but flavorful. Medium body, surprised it doesn't burn so much given the proof. Well balanced.Westland Distillery -
Pilot House A-O Single Malt
American Single Malt — Astoria, Oregon, USA
Reviewed September 15, 2021 (edited September 30, 2021)Barley and cereal grains on the nose. Gentle sweetness on the tongue, far less spicy than the flagship whiskey. Medium body, light sweetness that tastes like maybe corn even though it's a single malt. Mellow and well balanced.Pilot House Distilling -
Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 2, 2021 (edited September 8, 2021)Rich aroma, caramel and wood. Deep spicy flavor thats subtle at first then slowly builds over time into a peppery finish. Classic bourbon caramel sweetness mixed in too, but that slow spice build shines. The flavors that change over time are always cool. Richness facilitates it well. Very nice.Cask & Trotter / Lynnwood -
Sweet Smoky aroma. I smell more hickory and campfire than classic peat which is interesting. Rich on the tongue with that classic ardbeg smoke, but tastes sweeter than the flagship expression. The sweetness complements the smoke and richness well. Honestly to me tastes like a mildly sweeter classic ardbeg.
