Tastes

Complex woody smell, smells far older than it's age. Like an old wood paneled study. Flavor is wood and spice, but noticably thin. Little richness, flavor dissipates quickly. What tail there is shows a tingly oak spice that's rather nice, black pepper. Still well done.

Malty sweet aroma, little bit of fruit. Flavor is immediately a bigger hit than 2017, intense and rich. Not a fiery peat, but a heavy butterscotch sweetness with some kick from the proof. A light pepper spice shows up on the tail, which is wonderfully long. The sweetness lingers there perfectly, you can sit with the flavor forever. Excellently done.

Light aroma, banana again. Creamy fruit on the tongue blended excellently with peat. Still getting more banana, which with the creaminess gets amplified further.

Peat forward aroma, sea salt. Wonderful. Flavor is a little on the sweet side, vanilla dominant, hint of banana, salty peat coming in underneath. More of a floral peat than expected, heavy body and excellent tail but needs more depth to balance it.

Aroma is fantastic, broad and incredibly spicy. Peppery. Wood, spice, and deep deep smoke on the tongue, that perfect Islay richness to carry it all. Molasses caramel sweetness, fully balanced package. Absolutely fantastic, would be perfect with a tad less proof.

Smells like an actual stick of butter. One of the clearest and strongest aromas I've ever seen in a whiskey. Lots of sediment. Flavor is butterscotch and some sort of mild Christmas spice. Powerful body compared to the flavors, a little disjointed but both individually excellent.

Dark smokey aroma, fried fruit. Sharp sweetness. Deep rich body, high ABV and fire. More dried fruit, apricot, savory. Alcohol kick is a little put of balance for the flavor, but still quite enjoyable.

More barbeque smoke, much more subtle than the Bordeaux. Flavor is similar though, perhaps a bit sweeter than it's cousin but similar profile. Fire, spice, wood, plum. Meaty, spreads out broadly over the tail. Rich and lovely.

Incredibly strong barbeque smoke aroma, much more mesquite than peat. Flavor is much better and more complex. Huge wood kick followed by tangy wine sweetness. Like peppered bacon. Barbeque smoke on the tail, powerful and unique.

Fruty sweet aroma, some depth to it but tons of fruit. Raisins and peaches. Sweet smooth caramel and fruit on the tongue, creamy fire with a lengthy woody tail. Excellently crafted.
