Balvenie Doublewood 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 26, 2020 (edited December 27, 2020)Gorgeous whisky. Lovely spice on the lips, vanilla, honey and citrus in there - a really hidden secret. -
This is much more Milder on the nose compared to 10yr, it’s got a big spicy and Smokey hit - but the peat is mild so creates a nice balance. This is easily the nicest peat whisky I’ve had in a long time, a winner in my book..... goes well with orange garnish or a bit of orange flavoured dark chocolate

You are in a bar, you’ve had a few and you are happy, you look across the bar and see that girl that when sober you rate as a 3-4.... but tonight the feeling is right and you r happy, you look at her and think “no, who am I kidding you are an 8-9”.... that to me is talisker. I know my buds are going to regret it the next day, with all that peat and smoke..... initially you feel a big spicy hit with this, and it stays with you for a few sips, but then as you acclimatise to the dram the peat comes thru, and that’s when I start to dislike it. A peat free talisker with that same spice would be great

The very first malt I ever tried the best part of 30 years ago, and still my favourite- so light, smooth and friendly, it does get in your face and challenge u to a fight like a strong classic islay, or try and slap you in a face like sassy lowland.... it just takes you buy the hand, says let’s talk, and walks you through memory lane with smile.
