Glenmorangie Lasanta Sherry Cask Finish 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 21, 2020Lovely whisky. Massive hit of spicy that plays on the lips, and compliments the sweetness. The colour is a deep amber gold, possibly my favourite glenmorangie -
Glenmorangie Nectar D'or 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 21, 2020 (edited December 25, 2020)Truly lovely. From the labelling design to the name itself, you are directed to thinking “fruit” and from the first taste it’s evident. A real sweetness, almost off the scale, the sweetest whisky I have tried. - peachy -
I headed out to by my usual malt, the auchentoshan 12 for Xmas, but two whisky shops I visited put forward a strong case to forget the 12 and try the three wood..... initially I wasn’t getting much on the nose, the flavour is smooth but maybe a slight to much dry oak for my taste, maybe.... there’s a pleasant Carmel/treacle teaser in there. I don’t pick up the cinnamon that it mentioned in the distillery notes. I am in LOVE with the colour. I did a side by side comparison with the 12 - and yes, the recommendation is right, but twice the price better??? Hmmm67.0 GBP per Bottle

Been a big fan of auchentoshan - it’s my “local” distillery I suppose and I have visited a few times, it’s a great attraction. The 12 was my whisky of choice for many years, but as I’ve aged my tasted buds have changed and I tend to aim for something slightly smoother now - this is still a great whisky, and tripled distilled for that almost Irish feel36.0 GBP per Bottle

Great story behind this amazing blend. On the very first pass by my nose, from the bottle pre poured, I thought I was smelling a complex red wine. Once poured and settled my nose calmed and I picked up everything I like in a whisky. Taste there’s a vanilla and sweetness there to balance out a bit of mild spice. There an ever so slight hint of smoke and oakyness 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻..... on my second serve I made it as an old fashioned and all those light fruit tones came to the forefront. I can see this becoming a real favourite. If I was comparing it, then black bush, or a less spicy monkey shoulder25.0 GBP per Bottle

Old Pulteney 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 16, 2020 (edited February 13, 2021)Old Pulteney is like the girl next door of whiskey- you might not necessarily try n head out to buy it, but when it’s there on the shelf at the end of the night you’ll pick it up, pour a glass and be comforted in an old familiar way, relaxed and safe in the knowledge you know how to handle it.... just a slight hint of smoke that balances out the sweet fruity wick tones of Caithness
