Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series 2021 FAE-01
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 1, 2021 (edited August 29, 2021)Nose: Maybe the most going on here of any bourbon I’ve had... heavy floral notes at the beginning transitioning into varying but distinct fruit notes. From there nutmeg and brown sugar. Char notes at the very end Palate: Hints of caramel with a little bit of smoke Finish: Burn. I let this open up for 30 minutes and the burn was still quite a bit more than expected for a 110 proof. I don’t mind some heat, but in this case it takes away from what might be hiding underneath.45.99 USD per Bottle -
Nose: brown sugar notes and a hint of spearmint transitioning into creamy butterscotch Palate: sweeter than the average rye with slight cinnamon notes Finish: light to moderate burn on the way down - this particular barrel was bottled at 104 proof - fairly long-lasting finish A good rye... like the new riff single barrel bourbon, this offering brings some unique flavors within its profile, particularly for a newer distillery operation39.99 USD per Bottle

Nose: starts out with herbal notes but then the vanilla bomb hits and it’s beautiful Palate: not a lot going on, but what’s there is pleasant... vanilla mostly and a hint of sweet caramel Finish: quite smooth for a 110+ proof offering - short but enjoyable finish Solid pour... would recommend and look forward to trying the other Wood Finishing offerings54.99 USD per Bottle

Henry McKenna 10 Year Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 4, 2021 (edited March 7, 2021)Nose: oaky and musty notes, with pepper at the end Palate: stronger than expected bite for a 100 proof, the heaven hill profile definitely comes through and then hints of caramel on the back end Finish: long finish with citrus coming through Given the hype, a little disappointed in this pour, keeping in mind the variability to be expected from a single barrel offering.40.0 USD per Bottle -
Evan Williams White Label Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 23, 2021 (edited April 17, 2021)Nose: clove and baking spices and then a hint of banana Palate: strong herbal notes, not much else that stands out Finish: goes down with a little warmer Kentucky hug than expected - medium to long finish Reminds me a little bit of Willett Pot Still, which is not a good thing. Great price, but had higher hopes for this one.13.99 USD per Bottle -
Nose: interesting nose....oak to start. Transitions into strong chocolate covered cherries Palate: starts off quite subtle, but progresses into sweet, dark fruit notes Finish: medium length finish - fairly smooth with fruit notes This pour won’t knock your socks off but is a solid bourbon at retail.55.0 USD per Bottle

Wilderness Trail Settlers Select Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye
Rye — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed January 26, 2021 (edited June 15, 2021)Rye Love You barrel pick Nose: nice char and toasted notes and heavy maple mixed in with the rye on the backend Palate: super smooth on the front end considering 115 proof, heat builds from there Finish: long finish with the maple notes being most prominent Interesting pour....it does remind me a little of Angel’s Envy Rye. Solid, but was hoping for a little more, perhaps it will open up a little with time44.99 USD per Bottle -
Caribou Crossing Single Barrel Canadian Whisky
Canadian — Canada
Reviewed December 15, 2020 (edited February 20, 2021)Nose: Fairly benign nose Only thing that really comes through is baking spices at the end Palate: Definitely tell it’s 80 proof - not the hint of a bite, but it doesn’t lack flavor like a lot of other 80 proofs out there - sugary notes with butterscotch and maple syrup (cliche I know) Finish: short-medium finish, no hint of a bite but nice sweet notes on the backend This is better than I thought going in as I typically don’t enjoy sub-90 proofs, definitely recommend.49.5 USD per Bottle
