Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 2, 2022Mint and Maple nose. Sweet maple delivers on the palate. Medium finish and the rye spice lingers. Very nice. Sample bottle from an old friend. Thanks Jeff. -
Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 6, 2022 (edited March 17, 2022)Great whiskey. The nose seems to have become brighter as my bottle has opened up. Mint and citrus but still sweet with the proof evident but not overwhelming. I'm getting the spice on the palate but more from the proof than the rye spice. A gentle punch in the face without being overwhelmed by pepper and ethanol. Little bit of lingering toffee/milk chocolate bar as it finishes. You can all have your allocated BT bottles... just leave the turkey for me 🥃55.0 USD per BottleSpirits & Things -
1792 Full Proof Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 28, 2021 (edited January 10, 2022)She's hot but she's tasty. Boozy raisins, sweet cinnamon spice. Nice mouth coat. Long finish with a great hug. Pair it with dark chocolate covered almonds/raisins for a treat. One of the few that I have a backup in my cabinet due to limited availability in my area. Very good bourbon, especially in cold weather. Cheers 🥃50.0 USD per Bottle -
1792 Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 20, 2021 (edited December 23, 2021)First thing I always find with this one is the cut-rate, uncomplicated ethanol when I nose it. Kind of like nail polish remover. Let it open up in the glass a bit and it improves to the trademark Barton-ness. Sweet cinnamon spice is my descriptor. Finishes the same way, spice and caramel/cinnamon/vanilla and coats the mouth nicely for the price point. Can sip it, throw in a cube and/or don't feel guilty using as a mixer. $30 or under? Yes, it's worthy. If you are acclimated to high proof and like the Barton profile, find yourself a 1792 full proof and enjoy. It's a hot, cinnamon raisin bomb and one of my current favorites.30.0 USD per Bottle -
Bottle kill on this one tonight. A lot less sweet than I remember it being at the start. It was like candy when we cracked it open. A little bit more earthy, piney and harsh on the nose now. Palate brings it to life though: Coats nicely. Hits with sweetness of darker chocolate, rye spice follows. Wee bit dry to finish but it gives a nice hug and the 110 proof is just about right. Will certainly buy again and just drink it faster. Cheers55.0 USD per Bottle

Finding this much brighter than what most are saying. White wine/green grapes, apricot and a little peachy nose. Then those fade and it gets a bit earthy. Rye comes through after a few sips. Not overly spicy but it's there. A bit thin. Short --> moderate finish. Decent sipper but I'm not sure I'll buy another at this price. Plenty of others in the $50-60 range that are superior. Still a fan of the Ocean but not convinced on this one.69.0 USD per BottleSpirits & Things

Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 3, 2021 (edited March 6, 2022)It's good. I can understand why it's popular but can't understand why is basically unobtainable. Seems laughable that I paid $36 for this about 6 months ago. $50+ now but can't find it. Straightforward and well balanced. Not as sweet as my palate really craves but the classic notes are there. Clearly a notch above Buffalo Trace and similar characteristics and drinkability to Eagle Rare. If I could locate it and buy it at a reasonable price, I would likely always have one available. As it stands, I suppose I'll have to ration this one. Cheers and happy hunting.36.0 USD per BottlePROOF 192 Whiskey Bar & Craft Cocktails -
Not particularly pleasant for me. Mint and barrel and a bit metallic to nose. Yes there's rye spice on the palate but it doesn't punch very hard. More mint, like a sprig of spearmint off the bush. Finishes dry. I really like to mix this with ginger ale usually. Won't be a neat pour going forward but I do like to keep it on hand.
