Tastes

Primarily taste oak, tannins, and spices. A bit of a kick for 90 proof, with a nice cherry/fruit note in the background that opens up with some time past the neck pour. Decent pour and nice if you prefer something not too sweet.

Unique but familiar at the same time - like a malty, grainy spin on a sweet bourbon w/mild oak. Proof is mellow and easy sipping, great balance. Chatt 111 is more robust, like the dark chocolate to the 91’s milk chocolate. Both are fantastic for different reasons and great value.

Bold, with spice, mint and alcohol heat up front. Some nice herbal and maybe chocolate or cereal on the back end. A bit harsh/strong; definitely a rye lovers’ rye, makes a great old fashioned and good neat if you don’t mind the heat.

Interesting mix of fruit notes and mildly bitter spice up front. Very unique with a very oily, full profile. Long scotch-like finish.

Fairly simple but nice mix of brown sugar/caramel sweetness, oak, and a kind of roasted note (peanut?). What really stands out is the price - fantastic low-key sipper at $20ish.

Rich, smoky, and peaty with underlying fruit and mineral notes. Comes together almost like a tangy BBQ sauce. A bit edgy but full of flavor and complex. Quality stuff.

Like a punchy, slightly more peaty and grain-forward version of its big brother the 14yr. Lots going on, almost too much. A great value if in the neighborhood of $50, but if closer in price, Oban 14 is more balanced and approachable.

Surprising depth and richness for a $30 bottle. Oak, caramel, and mild spice. Solid value sipper and makes a good cocktail.

Interesting mix of flavors - some smoke, vanilla, and and fruit reminiscent of a more scotch-like whisky, but some pepper, spice and tannins provide contrast. A bit harsh and the flavors occasionally clash a bit but good depth and complexity.

Malted barley, hint of peat alongside fruit, candied sugar and citrus. Some grain/oak and spice on chewing. Great flavors, though a bit young w/some burn. Hard to find but great at MSRP.
