Laphroaig 10 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed September 9, 2022 (edited September 26, 2022)This is a rather tame Islay Scotch. There’s plenty of smoke and peat so you know where it comes from but it’s not over powering. I also find herbal and floral notes with a bit of a sweet brine finish. It smells of leather and oak. I’m quite enjoying this pour. Most other Islay Scotch I have had to power my way through and didn’t really enjoy but this one is pleasant and enjoyable. -
Ardbeg Wee Beastie
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed November 26, 2021 (edited December 3, 2021)Unlike the 10 year old the smoke &peat do not overwhelm every other taste & smell. Yes it is the first thing to hit the nose and tongue however the aroma of cigar and leather come through. After the initial smoke assault I can find flavors of seaweed and trace amounts of sweetness. Perhaps Islay just isn’t for me -
