Tastes

Some what sweet. Hints of caramel, oak and dried green apple. Very smooth and easy to drink. It’s 107 proof (53.5 abv) but goes down like 80 proof (40 abv). I’ll be buying this again.

This is a rather tame Islay Scotch. There’s plenty of smoke and peat so you know where it comes from but it’s not over powering. I also find herbal and floral notes with a bit of a sweet brine finish. It smells of leather and oak. I’m quite enjoying this pour. Most other Islay Scotch I have had to power my way through and didn’t really enjoy but this one is pleasant and enjoyable.

This is the fourth Islay Scotch I’ve tried and the third offering from Ardbeg. I actually like this one. There is smoke upfront but I soon find vanilla, some brine and a hint of citrus. There’s very little peat, compared to both the ten year old, or the wee beastie.

Unlike the 10 year old the smoke &peat do not overwhelm every other taste & smell. Yes it is the first thing to hit the nose and tongue however the aroma of cigar and leather come through. After the initial smoke assault I can find flavors of seaweed and trace amounts of sweetness. Perhaps Islay just isn’t for me

Wow I can’t hardly get past the smoke having a hard time picking out any other flavors or aromas. It is a little more palatable over ice. Came back to this pour after the initial shock of the smoke & peat I was able to pick out a little sweetness but not much else.

Wow this good. On the nose I get herbal fruity toasted grain notes. The pallet is spicy herbal black pepper up front with some sweet vanilla caramel on the finish.

Very pleasant. It has a warm inviting aroma. Hints of spearmint and cinnamon. On the pallet I get herbal & sweet notes, along with spiciness. I like it.

This is a very smooth east drinking whisky. Vanilla, caramel and short bread. All the usual Irish notes you would expect. I enjoyed this pour.
