Tastes

This is not bad...but not good either. Very full of vanilla. It tastes very young and underdeveloped. It has a look and feel of a rebranded gimmick. There are too many great bottles out there to waste time and money on gimmicky whiskey. Discontinued now in NC... thankfully. Old Hickory deserved better for his name.

After all the good things I have heard about this whiskey, I was very disappointed. It has a very good nose, but that is where the goodness ends. This whiskey has a very strange flavor profile. These flavors and I do not agree. There is way too much astringency in this for me. I cannot recommend given all the great affordable bottles out there.

Not my favorite but not bad. Floral and fruity. Aftertaste has something I am not sure about. I am on the fence. Not worth $59 for a bottle, but worth a pour.

Surprisingly good. Full of spice without being hot. Big Red gum all the way. A nice friend shared some with me. I don't know how much the bottle would be, but I definitely suggest getting a pour.

Not my thing. Smokey without being off putting. Strange after taste I cannot quite put my finger on. I would pass on a bottle. Glad someone shared with me.

C918 This particular batch was nothing short of great! I had a friend who picked up this bottle on the way to a coastal fishing trip. I have A118 in my personal vault unopened. It is too hot without water. once you get the proof right...Man! Vanilla and baking spices dominate. Cinnamon and clove spice. A warm Kentucky hug with a long satisfying finish. IMO...a must have for the barrel proof collection.

Very good. My particular pour came from a barrel that had a nose and taste like Knob Creek. The difference is in the finish. Buy this when it's on sale. Knob Creek when it's on sale. Enjoy. 3.75 Stars

Buttery and rich. A great starter Scotch. 3.5 Stars

It is very difficult for me to rate such a quality vintage product, with such a fine pedigree, this low. This is the first >20yr scotch I have tasted. I expected much more. All the beloved distillery notes I love from Glenlivet products are missing. Old musty smoke flavors arrive as the pour airs out in the glass. I am not a big fan of smoke or peat. Smoke overpowers other notes. I was also expecting more richness and a more creamier mouth feel. I think the 18 year might be the sweet spot at a much lower price point.(less than half) I just can't abide $300 for this bottle.

Good not great. I very much prefer the 100 or any of the Whiskey Row offerings. Just not enough complexity.
