Cappelletti Aperitivo Americano Rosso
Other Aromatized Wine — Trentino, Italy
Reviewed August 24, 2019 (edited June 18, 2020)Light Aperitivo from Italy - lots of orange peel and some floral flavors, only mildly sweet. Also, some Alpine herbal scents. It makes a nice dry Spritz, pairing well with crisp light sparkling wine. Sort of like a lighter version of Campari. -
Armorik Whisky Single Malt Breton
Single Malt — Brittany, France
Reviewed August 24, 2019 (edited April 28, 2021)Kind of a raw sweetish alcohol smell almost like a young brandy, but a fairly smooth taste that sort of reminds me of Irish pot still whiskey - malty flavors of light sherry and wood resin, with a slightly warming finish. Just a bit of brine and smoke - a bit of a coastal feel. Simple but enjoyable. -
Caperdonich 1995 17 Year Single Cask 95077 (Berry Bros. & Rudd)
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed August 9, 2019Warming with sweet spices - cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice. A modest amount of fireplace smoke. Sort of a creamy, almost buttery quality - rounded, soft but full flavor. What a nice unusual Speyside! -
Caol Ila Distillers Edition
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed July 26, 2019 (edited March 26, 2020)(2010 bottling) Intense, while being smooth and balanced. Plenty of smoke scents, sort of like barbecue and cigars. Tastes like a combination of smoke and ripe fruit, with a warming and drying finish. Great, for those who like peated whisky with some sweetness. -
Tomatin 12 Year French Oak
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed May 14, 2019 (edited April 14, 2020)Smooth and fruity, but also has a bit of a woody kick. Definitely can smell and taste the oak, but this also has a noticeably fruity flavor, like cherry. Warming and sturdy on the finish - it feels like a whisky to drink in a wood-paneled law office after hours. -
This Apricot brandy smells unpleasant, like paint thinner. The taste is somewhat better - there is a burn upfront and a bit of a harsh mouthfeel, but at least the apricot flavor is there in the background, and there is some sweetness. It finishes with some sharp alcohol burning sensations but then fades to a pleasant warmth. The bottle says it was aged 30 years - it does not taste like that, unless it was aged in metal tanks!
