    Amazingly rich and complex for just 12 years old. Buttery and smokey, dried apricot and fire roasted garlic (first time I've used that to describe a whisky), graham crackers by the campfire, and very warming on the finish. Powerful and smooth, a total package.

    The king of the smoky Islay malts. Like drinking an ashtray. Cigar smoke on the nose, cigar smoke and caramelized toffee flavors, and an immensely warming finish. You are either in the mood for this, or you aren't. No two ways about it.

    Pretty middle of the road as scotch blends go. Light and a bit sweet, kind of buttery, sugary cereal and birch wood. The scent is light and mostly blonde wood and grass, and the finish is a bit sharp with tingly warmth and corn syrup. Ice helps - it simplifies things, and makes it more quaffable.

    Well, there is some smoke and warmth as advertised. However, it's sort of an ashy, burnt wood sort of smoke, along with cooked brown sugar, a bit of chili flake, and unfortunately some sort of chemical thing like paint thinner. A drying and warming sensation takes over on the finish, with more of that chemical treated wood flavor. Overall, sort of muddled and basically meh-minus

    Light, sweet, and some warming spice here. Cinnamon toast, butterscotch, nicely evident sherry flavors, and a creamy finish almost like a boozy root beer float. If there was ever such a thing as a brunch whisky, this would be it. Tasty, if not especially complex. (1991 distillation edition)

    Fairly intense but very smooth smokiness, combined with nice dark cherry and red wine flavors. The sherry cask aging is obvious in the finish, with creamy fruit flavors at the end - a very nice smooth finish.

    Definite hit of buttered toast, candied fruits like apple and maybe apricot, and a noticeable oakiness reminding me a little bit of a bourbon. Creamy finish, some baking spice like nutmeg and something like Earl Grey tea. Pretty good for moderately priced blend.

    A great Lagavulin - smooth and smoky, some Laphroaig-like medicinal flavors like iodine, plenty of graininess, some wood flavors, and an underlying sweetness.

    Definitely a bit sweet with a sharp spirit edge - gingerbread flavor, maybe some orange peel, and definitely a nice smooth burn at the end. Pretty simple and straightforward, not especially complex, but this would be nice with Christmas dinner.

    This is fairly light for a brandy. Vanilla and caramel apple scents. Plenty of warmth, a tingly burn up front but more of a pleasant warmth at the end. Not a whole lot of deep flavors, maybe some caramelized fruit flavors and some white pepper at the end. Perhaps a bit thinner than I would like. Tastes somewhat young. Grapes used came from the 2017 harvest, and I tasted it in 2019, so not much barrel-aging and it shows. It did make a nice Sidecar with Grand Marnier. Certainly quaffable if a bit forgettable.
