Tastes

Smooth, dried fruit and oak flavors, and a sort of creamy texture. Maybe a bit of nutmeg or something like that. Nothing complex, but this has nice and straightforward Speyside flavors. No peat smoke here. If you can get this at a discount (e.g. Costco), this single malt whisky is quite a good value and competes well with Macallan and the like.

Vanilla, oak, a bit of warming spice like allspice - smooth. Also, a little bit of almost a rum-like coconut flavor and scent.

This is lighter and a bit sweeter than other Islay single malts that I've had. The salty iodine is there on the nose, and the finish is a nice warming barbecue smoke cozy blanket. In between, modest peat and sweet grain are most prominent, along with a bit of seaweed. There is a bit of a drying aftertaste. Definitely pleasant, but not amazing.

Warming scents, very up front with toasted oak. Flavors of caramel, golden raisin, graham crackers, and soft peat smoke - this is no Lagavulin. Always a pleasant experience to have a bit of Johnnie Black - middle of the road, but in a good and familiar way.

Loved it. Caramel, vanilla, burnt orange peel, fresh cracked black pepper, and a bit of golden raisins. Lots of power, with flavor that pops but is very smooth at the same time. This is the cask strength, unpeated bottling - very different than typical Caol Ila.
