Blue Run Kentucky Straight High Rye Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 25, 2022 (edited November 8, 2022)On the nose it's chocolate, caramel, and cherries. On the palate it's balanced with brown sugar, slight fruit notes, cherry, oak, and a building burn. The finish is long and warm from that high rye. I've been looking for this bottle for a while, glad to see it's lived up to the hype. -
Van Winkle Special Reserve Lot "B" 12 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 15, 2022 (edited July 31, 2022)On the nose there's ethanol, cinnamon and oak. On the tongue it's vanilla with sweetness, and some barrel char. Finish is medium long and building. Thanks for the pour Squints! -
First thing on the nose is ethanol, but peeling that back there's caramel, butterscotch, and vanilla. On the palate she's thicc. It drinks like an older bourbon, and it's quite decadent. Vanilla seems to coat the tongue, as it does the flavors begin to open up and you start tasting that oak from the extended stay in the barrel and a bit of citrus and spiciness. It finishes strong with building spice that goes on for several minutes. Damn fine juice from Jim Beam!120.0 USD per Bottle

On the nose it's sweet fruit with more pronounced char notes than any of the other 1792 offerings. On the palate it's rich and delightful. Spending 12yrs in the barrel leaves quite the impression, it starts out sweet, but the char takes over quickly and dominates, not unlike the German invasion of the Soviet Union. However, not like the Germans, it ends well with a nice long, warming finish. Big fan of this spending 12yrs in Stalag 1792.100.0 USD per BottleBill's Liquors & Fine Wine

Ghost Coast Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Bourbon — Savannah, GA, USA
Reviewed April 2, 2022 (edited June 18, 2022)On the nose there's sugar, must and grain. On the palate it's light, there's not much to it. It finishes so fast it's hard to get tasting notes, but there's a little ethanol, and then it's gone. Reminds me of a heavily heavily cut MGP booze.Ghost Coast Distillery -

Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 26, 2022 (edited June 23, 2022)Ethanol, orange peel, and vanilla on the nose. Oak char, brown sugar, and citrus on the palate. Decent finish, but seems light overall. Concur with the distiller notes on lacking a bit. Go for rare breed. -
On the nose it's turkey, lots of vanilla and corn with a hint of char, but very pleasant aromas. On the palate it's very smooth and sweet, almost like a vanilla syrup, yet not as complex as the nose would lead you to believe. As it finishes there is a nice building warmth as the char comes through. Overall a nice pour, would love to see this as a barrel proof offering.36.0 USD per BottleCoast Guard Exchange

Old Elk Single Barrel Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Colorado , USA
Reviewed March 12, 2022 (edited October 15, 2022)"Saluting the brave that protect us" Coast Guard Exchange barrel pick. On the nose there's corn, tobacco, and brown sugar. On the palate it's smooth for the proof, but very evident that it's MGP. A slight musty corn taste and decent amount of building rye spice. Overall it's good, but not great.49.0 USD per BottleCoast Guard Exchange
