Just tried WT101 for the first time. Might be the most flavorful/complex "commodity" bourbon I've tried so far (granted I've only tried a few "commodity" bourbons). That strong butterscotch aroma, powerful charred oak and caramel flavor that changes over time, pretty dang good. Would absolutely buy again. But I gotta admit that 101 proof punches you in the face haha. I don't have the pallette to enjoy much beyond like 90 proof yet

Larceny Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 3, 2021 (edited August 19, 2021)Somewhat of a burn but almost in a good way. The nose has sweetness of banana bread and nuts, brightness of cherry likely thanks to the wheat mash, and dryness of pipe tobacco. The pallette is also accurate with the new charred oak, but I also get some dark chocolate, cherry, and burnt sugar. Very complex and flavorful for the price! -
EDIT: A couple of weeks in and still so much burn, more burn and less flavor than Larceny. Pretty disappointing for the price. This is one of those I'll probably like more and more as time goes on. Smoothness you'd expect from high quality 50%. The evolution of flavor is incredible, you can't hold on to any part of it before it changes. Sweet honey aroma. Taste evolves from immediate apricot/pear, to caramel, to finish with an after taste of oak and spices. Complex and intriguing.

Very smooth. Creamier mouthfeel body probably from the double char oak. Signature irish light floral and spicy notes, but with very sweet vanilla and nutty oak as well. I'm usually not a fan of making Sottish/Irish super oak and sweet but this is pretty good.34.0 USD per BottleFine Wine & Good Spirits
