Unlike any tequila I’ve had thus far. Agave on the nose with tomato and basil (no, really, it smells like pizza sauce to me), notes of pepper. Very herbal on the palate, with agave taking second place and pepper not far behind. Reminds me of gin with how herbal it is. The herbal flavors carry through to the lingering finish, with just the slightest peppery notes. Super interesting, took me forever to figure out what I was smelling and tasting. Altogether a good tequila, certainly holds its own for the price. I’d buy it again. Now I think I’ll go buy a pizza.

Sweet, grape-like notes on the palate, which makes sense as this is made from grapes. Starts out harsh, but mellows once you let it breathe 10 minutes. Still, the alcohol flavor is strong and clashes with the sweetness. The sweet notes linger pleasantly on the finish, but it’s not enough to redeem the harshness on the palate. Far from the worst, but I’m definitely not a fan.

Peat on the nose with fruity undertones. Peat carries over to the palate as well, with notes of toasted cereal and rich stone fruit, all very well balanced with the peat taking the forefront only slightly. Peat holds the stage in the very pleasant finish with toasted cereal present beneath, the two gradually switching places as the finish fades. All in all not bad. Nothing amazing, but far from bad. I like that the peat is there, but not so overpowering that other notes don’t shine through. I’d buy a bottle.

Nose of peat, seaweed, saltwater, mint. Interplay of peat and chocolate on the palate, with notes of cereal and a thick, meaty sort of flavor I find in a lot of Islay scotches. Finish has peat and sweet cereal, not strong but slow to fade, very pleasant. The 10 year is a punch in the face with flavor, An Oa is more subtle and complex but easily holds its own on the same level. Lovely spirit and absolutely worth the money.
