Tastes

Color: white wine. Nosing the cap: smoked sardines, Parma ham, salt and smoke. Iodine and charred bloody meats. In the glass, some sense of being like a very good mezcal - grilled salted artichokes grilled with chili peppers and some small white oily fish. With water: brings out more vanilla, chocolate mints, medicinal. Some cinnamon? Palate: salt and meat, followed by coffee, followed by some vanilla and canned pineapple. With water: salt, more peppery, medicinal and less on the pineapple. Finish: salted and sweet dried pineapple and iodine. With water : more medicinal less pineapple

Green apples or soured green vegetables slightly rotten. Touches of caramel. Honey, beeswax and lanolin, leather work gloves. With water: caramel green apples and sheepskins. Nuts and guava on the mouth. Guava to leather and gasoline on the finish Dry oak in the dry glass This was more restrained on the nose than the 2017-2018 kilkerran 8 but more voluptuous one the palate. Pure guava and leather after a hit of nuttiness

To me this tastes like the wood box in my childhood home, next to the fireplace: dried American oak. There is some fruit and smoke but the cask was too active. I look forward to tasting a bowmore with a less active cask

Leather gloves, lanolin, some gasoline, rocks and citrus rind on the nose, opens with water and with time to more sweetness, tobacco and maybe some licorice, some lemon drops. Licorice, tar and tobacco on the palate and a long, balanced slightly smoky finish. Definitely the sweetness of youth is there, like the Laphroaig quarter cask, but a great whisky with a lot of character to balance the youth out.

Clean campfire, nuts and white flowers on the nose and palate. With water chocolate brown sugar campfire and cinnamon. Deepening smoke. A little spice. Flower soap

Raisins char and crime brulee sugar on the nose, a bit of oak dryness. Warm baking spices with jammed red fruits, a little sweet. Smoke comes up in the mid-end of the sip, with the bruichladdich bite at the end and a long quiet smoky finish, a little bitter. After water, fig Christmas pudding wafts up the nose and fruit opens on the palate with maybe a bit of mint.

Sweet smoke and citrus on the nose with some white pepper. Berries and zest, smoke with a bite on the palate.

Vanilla and gentle peat until you add water, then dried and fresh tropical fruits - guava, pineapple and mango, interlaced with a vanilla and sweet smoke. Price probably too high for what I am tasting but I appreciate the limited nature of this release
