Grangestone 21 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed July 30, 2017 (edited December 24, 2018)Don't waste your money. Your better off buying the dalmore 12 year or dalwhinnie anything. This does not taste like a 21 year. Total wine will push this brand on you but that's their job. This has nowhere near the depth flavor or smoothness a 21 year should have. For 80 bucks you could find a much better highland -
Grangestone Islay Blended Malt
Blended Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed July 30, 2017 (edited July 4, 2020)You can find it at total wine and they push it cause they have a contract with them. I've had their 21 year cuz a sales clerk bamboozled my friend and it sucked. Tasted like a low range highland 12 year. This one was 25 bucks so I figured why not try it. Tasted a lot like a smokier jb rare. Easy drinking but not a lot to offer. Flavors we're evened out and mild, smoky and sweet. It is an islay blend, which you will be able to tell right away. definitely not for the hardcore peat addicts. Overall not a bad tasting whisky and for the sale price I'd buy it again. -
Glenmorangie Lasanta Sherry Cask Finish 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland

A lot of great things come out of the state of Illinois.... wait no they don't and whiskey is no exception. I've had two whiskeys from Illinois in the past week and all I can say is blah. The nose was the best part with oak vanilla citrus cedar spearmint and nutmeg. Wood spice at the forefront and flavors hard to pick out. Very thin and unflavorful if you just drink it, you literally have to chew on it. After that you get the floral/ citrusy notes as well as some cinnamon and apple like flavors. Lightly smoky/ charred flavor and maybe some dark honey with a little mintiness but its all hard to pick out and very bland. Finish is longish smoky sweet alcohol and more oak

Nose- oak, vanilla, caramel, butterscotch, slight citrus. Palate- oaky with wood spices, nutty, vanilla, caramel, salty, malted cereal, fresh sawdust. Finish- more oak and spices vanilla and floral. All in all I really had to search for the flavors but this being higher proof it's still very smooth. the wood over takes the flavor and the whiskey coats the tongue immediately. Not very complex at all but not a bad whiskey.
