Pike Creek Canadian Whisky Finished in Port Wine Barrels
Canadian — Canada
Reviewed March 6, 2015 (edited April 1, 2016)One of the better offerings from Corby Distillers, but if you can't abide sweetness, steer clear. You'd have a hard time finding another whiskey this good for the same price. Sweet citrus fruit, raisin and toffee give way to flares of Christmas spices, peppery heat and smooth vanilla. -
This scotch resides on the dividing line between good and excellent (though, the cask strength version is truly excellent). Fruit, raisin and honey dominate the nose with a hint of calvados and apple blossom. Citrus peel and nutty barly present themselves along with the raisin and honey fade into an oaked vanilla finish.

Highland Park 15 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed August 15, 2014 (edited April 24, 2018)Not Highland Parks greatest effort, but definitely worthy of the name. Intense peat with a touch of iodine. The peat fades into apple and butter on the tongue with a smokey finish.
