Jeffers Creek Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 18, 2021 (edited September 6, 2022)Ethanol and peanuts on the nose? Palate is very basic, some caramel. Thin with a pale beige color. Considerable burn on the finish. Solid workhouse bourbon for those on a budget. Would be a good mixer. I wouldn’t expect much more than that. -
Uncle Nearest 1856 Tennessee Whiskey (Sourced Whiskey)
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed March 15, 2021 (edited April 9, 2021)Very sweet and pleasant nose. I get vanilla and maybe even some pear? The palate is also sweet and well rounded. Mouthfeel is good- not too thin. Overall, it’s smooth with a little bit of spice on the finish. Uncle nearest surprised me with its sweetness. I think the $50 price is a bit high for what it is, but it was definitely enjoyable. I think it’s worth a try. The nose impressed me. There’s definitely some unique notes that I haven’t experienced very often at this price point.50.0 USD per Bottle -
Nose was excellent. Strong, deep oak with some molasses, toffee, and maybe even some black licorice. Palate has a considerable amount of heat. I can’t identify many notes- maybe caramel or even some citrus? Very Long finish. I liked this whiskey but I didn’t love it. I love the entry level weller expression and all BT whiskeys I’ve had, but this one fell surprisingly short for me. I would take Stagg Jr, Eagle Rare, or Blue note 10 year over Weller full proof.

Excellent nose. Brown sugar, molasses, cinnamon, clove, black licorice. Palate: more cinnamon spice and sweet notes gives way to a great medium finish. Little to no burn. I love this rye but it’s certainly not a traditional rye. If you love and appreciate finished whiskeys, you’ll love this. A bit expansive for what it is, but it’s still quite enjoyable. Not many other whiskeys like it90.0 USD per Bottle

Blue Note 10 Year Single Barrel Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed December 20, 2020 (edited April 18, 2022)Nose: sweet rounded apricot and honey. Really enjoy this nose Palate: viscous creamy mouthfeel that leads into sweet notes of toffee and caramel. Sweeter than expected due to the proof with a lingering finish. Overall I enjoyed this more than I expected. The unique creaminess was enjoyable, and it didn’t have much heat for a 120 proof whiskey.50.0 USD per Bottle -
Tasted side by side with MacAllen 12. I’m new to scotch and couldn’t pick out the differences quite yet, but it’s a great whiskey still. Nose: musk and dark fruits Palate: unique nutty bitterness with some orange. Lingering finish. Bold flavor that I enjoyed I enjoyed this whiskey, but I hope in the future I’ll be able to tell the difference between this and Macallan 12. One day... The bottle of 18 was open for several years, so that could be part of it.300.0 USD per Bottle

Nose: pleasant blackberry jam and some musk. Excellent nose at this price point Palate: warm honey which gives way to a slight caramel/oak flavor and a medium finish Overall, this is a great whiskey at this price point. Great combination of Irish whiskey and bourbon. Significantly better than baseline Jameson- would be a daily drinker if it was slightly cheaper.35.0 USD per Bottle

Woodford Reserve Wheat Whiskey
Wheat Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 8, 2020 (edited February 1, 2022)Nose and taste are a bit sweeter than regular woodford. Not a lingering finish- but delightful. Solid wheated bourbon without being overly complex. -
Nose: strong honey and crisp green apple. Palate: more honey and caramel. Sweet but not overbearing. Slight spice but overall a muted flavor profile that just feels like a warm hug. Finish: relatively long with little burn. Overall, I love weller. It deserves the hype if you can find it at a reasonable price. I was lucky to find several bottles at Walmart a month ago, and it looks like that won’t be happening again in the near future. Makes me sad. This bottle is incredible for the price. Drinks like it’s 40-50 despite being 30 at retail price. If you ever find a bottle, it is worth it. Certainly not quite pappy, but it’s still damn good bourbon.30.0 USD per Bottle
