Barrell Dovetail (122.9 Proof)
Blended American Whiskey — (bottled in) Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 30, 2021 (edited September 24, 2021)Tannic notes on the nose, I can smell the red wine. Nose is very sweet, but unique. comparable to angels envy Body is hot, lots of cinnamon and red hot candy. Finish has considerable burn Overall, I think this bourbon is a hit overpriced. I’m not the biggest fan, but I think people who like some heat would enjoy it. I need to try the other Barrell expressions- this one wasn’t impressive. The nose is the best part unfortunately. The various finishes seem to be more for novelty rather than flavor, as I don’t think the taste of this whiskey is very good or complex. Much better off buying ECBP in this price range. -
Lots of dark fruit, molasses, and brown sugar on the nose. Rich cherry notes on the body. Finish is lingering and sweet. Quality whiskey, worth 100+. 300 is a bit steep, but it’s worth trying if you get a chance. Redbreast 12 is honestly not far behind, but you won’t be disappointed in this pour regardless300.0 USD per Bottle

Clyde May's Alabama Style Whiskey (85 Proof)
Flavored Whiskey — USA
Reviewed July 23, 2021 (edited September 27, 2021)Very easy drinker. Crisp apple and honey on the nose. Classic bourbon notes on the palate with a short finish. Not much complexity, but it’s a solid bourbon with a lot of sweetness -
Blue Note Juke Joint Straight Bourbon (93 Proof)
Bourbon — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed June 6, 2021 (edited July 26, 2021)Nose is light with mild ethanol aroma and some nuttiness (pecan maybe?). Palate gives way to classic bourbon flavors- caramel and oak. It’s richness is impressive given the price point. Moderate burn on the finish. Overall, I think this entry level blue note expression provides great value in this price range. It’s young and has a bit of burn, but the flavor is solid. Is great on the rocks and could stand up in a cocktail as well. The older 9-10 year blue notes are much better, but they’re around double the price.25.0 USD per Bottle -
Calumet Farm 15 Year Single Rack Black Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 4, 2021 (edited August 5, 2021)Nose: very sweet. Rich brown sugar and molasses with honeycomb on the end. The nose is excellent overall. Palate: more sweetness and rich caramel on the palate. Viscous mouthfeel. Very smooth with a long but pleasant finish with little burn. I really liked this whiskey but it’s incredibly overpriced. I know it’s 15 years old, but it drinks like it’s $60-70 rather than $120. It’s worth trying at a bar, but I wouldn’t recommend buying a bottle at its current price point. The nose is outstanding. the palate is well-rounded and is comparable to Blantons imo. I would have given it a higher rating if the price was lower.120.0 USD per Bottle -

Full bodied and amazing Finish: long finish with decent burn Overall I loved this bourbon and would definitely buy it again. Don’t hesitate to pull the trigger on this bottle- it is unique and tasty.60.0 USD per Bottle -
Willett Family Estate Small Batch Rye 4 Year
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 2, 2021 (edited May 6, 2021)This is phenomenal. Nose: dark fruit, luxardo cherries, black licorice. I also smelled some dill pickle Palate: rich, thick, velvety. Consists of blackberries and molasses with an excellent finish. If you’re lucky enough to find a bottle, buy it. Excellent all around.64.0 USD per Bottle -
It’s good, but I can’t say it’s worth the price or hype. Nose has some ethanol, oak, cherry, and some peanut. Palate is smooth but thinner than expected. More notes of cherry and some caramel. Medium finish that I enjoyed. If you get the chance to get this it’s worth it, but I wouldn’t go out of my way.200.0 USD per Bottle
