Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 6, 2020 (edited September 9, 2020)Amazing nose- Sweet honey and no ethanol. More honey and toffee on the palate. Medium finish with little to no burn. One of my favorite bourbons I’ve tried (especially in this price range). Please buy a bottle if you see it- you won’t regret it. All around quality bourbon at a great price.35.0 USD per Bottle -
TX Blended Whiskey
Blended American Whiskey — (bottled in) Texas, USA
Reviewed August 1, 2020 (edited August 15, 2020)Nose: very strong brown sugar and molasses. Sometimes I’m unsure of what exactly a whiskey smells like, but not here. Palate: honey, vanilla, Carmel. Not much burn overall. I liked this whiskey. Not too complex, but very sweet in a good way. Its an enjoyable dessert whiskey without tasting too artificial.35.0 USD per Bottle -
Henry McKenna 10 Year Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 29, 2020 (edited September 2, 2020)Beautiful deep amber color Nose: strong ethanol at first, but after resting in glencairn for 10 minutes the nose is much sweeter and enjoyable. I get mostly sweet vanilla and some caramel on the nose. Palate: mostly caramel on the palate for meat first. Then the notes turn to mostly spice and oak. Not overly complex, but still a solid bourbon all around. Slightly spicy and more burn than expected given the age, but the 100 proof probably is why. The finish is relatively long and bold. Overall, I can’t say this whisky completely lives up to what I have read about it, but it’s very good nonetheless. Nothing is too complex or surprising about this bottle other than the strong nose. Definitely is better rested to help with the ethanol aromas. I can see why this bottle is so devisive given how single bottle expressions can vary. McKenna 10 is still certainly worth trying if you have the chance. -
Macallan 12 Year Sherry Oak Cask
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed April 10, 2020 (edited April 15, 2020)Dark fruit on the nose. Blackberry jam and dark cherries Palate is very enjoyable and sweet. Short, but enjoyable finish. I have only tried a handful of scotches, but I enjoyed this very much. It is obviously sweeter due to the finish, but still quite enjoyable to me.70.0 USD per Bottle -
Color: deep rustic brown Nose: rich cherry and toffee. Chocolate and caramel undertones. Palate: velvety rich oak and butter. Well rounded classic bourbon flavor. Sweet, lingering, pleasant finish. Overall, this is a quality whiskey. The double finish creates an extremely enjoyable and complex nose. The actual taste is not extremely complex, but it is very good. I would certainly have this again.60.0 USD per Bottle
