Talisker Distillers Edition
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed November 21, 2016 (edited September 11, 2017)After being royally underwhelmed by Talisker Port Ruighe, I was overwhelmed by this delicious drink. I love Johnnie Walker Black Label and Te Bheag, both containing Talisker malt, so I gave this a shot... And it's splendid, luscious, warm and vivacious. Caramel, light spices, sweetness, a bit of coffee and the taste of that light French smoked ham, the peat and the sherry notes mix more elegantly than in Johnnie Walker Black Label. -
Fruity, light, herbal, fresh with vanilla, honey and delicately floral, it isn't my style, but that evocative, high quality grain taste is one I'd recommend to anyone. The closest I've ever found in that lush, rich grain style is Ed Gwenn, a beautiful barley single grain whisky from Brittany in France, I'd recommend both.

I didn't expect much from this having tried Mackmyra Bruks, but I was amazed by this, tasty, yummy, bitter-sweet with a mix of vinaigre, balsamic vinaigre, hard toffee, rocket, dried herbs, bittersweet pineapple, malty sweet creaminess and pepper, the juniper twigs of course remind me of Swedish food and the juniper berries in gin. The finish is long, elegant and complex. A whisky that truly stands out, as unique as it is tasty! (Try this, ignore Mackmyra Brukswhisky) EDIT: I own it now and I can pick up wine, cidre, walnut and pecan nuts!

Sweet, creamy, delicious. Tasting of sweet wheat and corn, with chili, cinnamon, lemony spice, with smooth, fresh salt and a final dropping of a rich cream flavour, I must say, this whisky is enchanting. I will write a better review and give these flavours in a more orderly fashion, but needless to say, I want to buy this one. But it's really the creamy ending that bursts onto the tongue at the long and complex whisky that really sticks out the most.
