Glenmorangie Signet
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 12, 2019 (edited February 8, 2020)Typical Glenmorangie orange on the nose, but uniquely coffee and chocolate notes are also present. Silky smooth on the tongue, with spice and orange present. There is for sure espresso notes, but I don't find it as strong as other tasters. The finish is easy like Sunday morning, but there is some lingering spice like you may have had one dram too many the night before. A unique experience to say the least. -
Highland Park 18 Year Viking Pride
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed October 2, 2019 (edited January 20, 2020)There is honey on the nose, with subtle grain/malt notes as well. This scotch is surprisingly sweet, with cherry and a hint of plum, but there is some pure honey sweetness as well. There is much more smoke than I expected, especially from a scotch from this far North. The finish is long, but not super complex. Overall, this is a beautiful scotch, given as a birthday present, by a beautiful friend!!! -
Monkey Shoulder Blended Malt
Blended Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed May 12, 2019 (edited July 30, 2019)The nose is orange, malt, and fitting to the name Monkey Shoulder . . . bananas. There's a gentle smoothness on the tongue with barley and spice like pepper, or cinnamon. The finish has a bit of burn but is short. -

Glenmorangie 18 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed February 20, 2019 (edited January 20, 2020)The nose is sweet, with fruit, caramel, and way deep inside, is that candy cane I smell? Lemon, plum, berries and honey on the tongue, with a hint of oak. Has a nice creamy quality. The finish is soft and easy, and a pleasant surprise. So nice, I bought it for 2 friends!!! -
White Walker by Johnnie Walker
Blended — Scotland
Reviewed February 6, 2019 (edited February 17, 2019)The nose is empty, apart from a tinny quality. Frozen, its sweet, but that is it. The finish is short, and disappointing. Best thing about this, is the cool bottle. -
Talisker 10 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed February 6, 2019 (edited February 28, 2019)I read bacon on the tasting notes, and thought "That's ridiculous". You know what, it does have bacon on the nose, with some iodine notes. Surprisingly fruity, but a medicinal quality for sure. Spicy finish -
Campfire and a hint of brine on the nose, with some mild fruity notes. There is no hiding that this is the quientesential Isaly scotch once it hits your mouth. The smoke is thick, and the peat is front and center, but this is so much more than just that. A few drops of water bring out an amazing complexity that I didn't expect. I understand why this was selected as the Classic Malt of Islay
