Glenkinchie 1991 24 Year (2016 Special Release)
Single Malt — Lowlands, Scotland
Reviewed October 6, 2018The nose is light and fruity, with hints of peach, apricot, and raisin. The tongue is sweet, with caramel, butterscotch and honey notes. The finish is long with a gentle buttery quality. A well balanced scotch, and a welcome addition to my collection. -
Bowmore Vault Edition First Release Atlantic Sea Salt
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed October 6, 2018 (edited February 16, 2019)Nose is soft and sweet, like a spring meadow and hints of caramel. It is sweeter than I expected, and the sweetness lingers on the tongue. But man, does this have a bite, that numbs the tip of your tongue and burns your throat. A touch of water softens it up nicely. There is the lightest hint of smoke and peat. -
Lagavulin 8 Year

Reviewed September 29, 2018 (edited February 17, 2019)Salt, sea and smoke on the nose. There are subtle hints of fruit, like apple and pear. The palate is initially sweeter than expected, but is followed by spicy bite and smoke. The finish is long and smoky. -
Auchentoshan The Bartender's Malt
Single Malt — Lowlands, Scotland
Reviewed September 21, 2018 (edited March 9, 2020)The nose is strong honey, but hints of apple and apricot. There is clearly some caramel notes, a I envision a candy apple the more I smell it. At full strength, it bites, but has buttery notes. A dash of water opens up the flavours, bringing out citrus notes and hints of rum/malt. The finish is nice, soft, and long. This was WAAAAY better then I had expected. -
Glenlivet Founder's Reserve
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed September 14, 2018 (edited February 16, 2019)Banana and orange on the nose. Fruity and light on the tongue, with a thick creamy feel. The finish is long and gentle, like warm winter's night. Overall, a pleasant dram -
To me, the aroma is strong honey and a hint of clover, or spring dew. The longer I let it open up, the more dark caramel aroma came through. The taste is a bit of a surprise given the aroma. Sweet, but not like honey, more of a syrup quality that coats the tongue and washed to the back of the palate. The salt for me was almost non-existent. It has a burning, lingering finish that starts at the tip of the tongue and slowly moves back
