This is a basil product so it has to be graded as such. It’s only a 80% abv. The 10 year rye does not have the burn/boldness/intensity of a barrel proof or bottled in bond rye. It is very approachable and tasty neat or with a single rock. I agree that it’s not a unicorn bottle. I really like it. For me, it’s nice to have a flavorful rye sipper in my arsenal. If you buy it, know what you are getting and embrace it. Otherwise just don’t buy it.

Interesting taste. The port and rye come thru for a thicker texture spice. I like this on the rocks with the ice chilling it and loosening the texture. I understand that that is is not a true bourbon/rye, but it is a delicious sipper. It is a basil product so it has a lower abv and no burn. If the thought of some more pronounced port flavor into your rye interests you, try this and you won’t be disappointed

This score is biased based on the price point. If this were a $20 to $30 bottle my review would be completely different. This is a thin bourbon lacking a distinguishable nose. It is smooth but devoid of character. I drank it neat and with a single cube to see if there was a redeeming quality. There wasn’t; it’s just so thin that the subtleties of its flavor profile are lost on me. I will quickly drink this bottle and soon forget about the price I paid. There is so much good bourbon out there, don’t waste your money on this bottle.

Old Tub Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 14, 2021 (edited March 4, 2021)Respect this for what it is bold, hot, unfiltered juice. To call it good would be a lie. It a char, smoky, punch. I didn’t enjoy it neat. I appreciate it as a mixer when I want to drink a whiskey mixer without adding more sweet but to dull it with a spicy finish. At the price point it will have a place in cabinet. -
Belle Meade Sour Mash Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Tennessee), USA
Reviewed December 10, 2020This bourbon lacks any distinctive tasting notes to my palate. I have tasted at room temperature and on the rocks. It is just not a complex bourbon. There are far better at this price point.
