    Musty, dirty olives, brine, engine oil on the nose. Thick and oily on the palate with more dirty olives and brine. Finish is short, peppery and bitter. Some smoke arrives late. This lacks any charm compared to other Ardbeg offerings I’ve tasted. Improved slightly towards the end of the bottle. Was actually quite good in a Scotch Old Fashioned, which where the majority was consumed. Bumped 1/4 point.

    Molasses, vanilla, caramel, spices, hint of licorice, sweet and quite rough on palate and finish. Underwhelming on its own, much better in a dark and stormy.

    2006 edition. Light, fresh, fruity, mild spices and some creme brulee. Really nice young Cognac.

    First foreray into Old Forester offerings. This is kind of grungy and dark. Burnt brown sugar, rye spice, tobacco and baking spices. Quite good for an entry level bourbon.

    Surprisingly pleasant, mellow bourbon. Soft and semisweet with light vanilla, caramel, baking spices, plus a bit of rye bite on the palate and finish.

    Real Mccoy's Tasting notes: “Elegantly mature character – delicate, yet complex. NOSE: Pipe tobacco, charred oak, soft stone fruit and earthy notes. PALATE: Pronounced honeyed wood, spiced vanilla and caramelized nutmeg with hints of black pepper. FINISH: Familiar Bourbon styling, rounded, soft and lingering.” Pretty spot on to me. Vanilla, toffee and caramel notes stand out. A bit of spiky heat and ethanol when taken neat. I liked it better with a chunk of ice which rounded said spiky notes and heat. Empty glass is superb. 4.25 neat. 4.5 with ice.

    This is an enjoyable blend. Semisweet with honey, malt, vanilla, grains, and hints of nutty sherry, spices and peat smoke. I like this better than the Black Label, although both are similar. The Swing is more “smooth” and sweeter and the Black has a bit of a bite.

    Neck pours. Really nice nose and flavors on the palate. Sherry bomb. I needed ice myself. Will be interesting to see how this develops with time open.

    Only have a sample. Strawberries and cream, coffee grounds, chicory, vanilla cake, caramel, baking spices, tobacco, semisweet, somewhat viscous, subdued heat, long finish. Fantastic! Barrell is knocking it out of the park lately.
