Kirkland Kentucky Small Batch Bourbon by Barton 1792
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 18, 2022 (edited July 1, 2022)Somehow this review got deleted, not that it matters much. Not a very good whiskey. Ethanol, astringency and bitterness overpower any of the good, sweet, honey, cinnamon and apple notes. Rough finish puts the nail in the coffin. -

Port Charlotte PAC:01 2011
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed February 4, 2022 (edited March 31, 2022)After tasting the MRC 01, this seems to be better integrated. Open less than a week. Aggressive peat, a little hot, bbq meats, tropical fruits, honey, vanilla and restrained red fruit, medium length, spicy finish. Liked it better with a splash of water. -
Port Charlotte MRC:01 2010
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed February 4, 2022 (edited February 28, 2022)Color me not impressed. Its not without merit, but it’s too hot, the wine finish overwhelms the whiskey, it tastes overly oaky. Water did not help. Open less than a week. Maybe it will oxidize well. -

Remus Repeal Reserve Series V (2021 Medley)
Bourbon — Indiana , USA
Reviewed January 27, 2022 (edited February 10, 2022)Another one that just keeps getting better as I move through the bottle. Nose is simply fantastic with cherry, caramel, chocolate, powdered sugar and tobacco notes. Palate is fruity and sweet, not cloying, with leather, honey and baking spices. Finish is super long and moderately spicy with tobacco and baking spice notes. -
Kentucky Owl 11 Year Rye (Batch #2)
Rye — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed January 26, 2022 (edited August 21, 2023)This has been hard to peg. Each time I taste it, I like it a little more. It’s rich, compact and complex, maybe too complex for my palate. Latest tasting reveals a still restrained nose. Palate has butterscotch, cherries and baking spices. Long warming finish. Bottle kill: This just got better and better towards the end. I was sad to see it go. Bumped 1/4 point.199.99 USD per Bottle -
