Warbringer Mesquite Smoked Southwest Bourbon
Bourbon — (bottled in) California , USA
Reviewed November 8, 2020 (edited March 10, 2024)Three months of oxidation in the bottle has not been kind to this whiskey. It’s now dominated by a pungent imitation wood smoke note on the nose and palate. Would not buy again. -
Plantation Xaymaca Special Dry
Gold Rum — Jamaica
Reviewed November 4, 2020 (edited November 12, 2020)If you need the funk, if you gotta have that funk, this is the rum for you. Massive hogo funk on the nose, which is tamed slightly by time in the glass, but still hefty. There’s molasses, caramel and ripe bananas too. Rich on the palate with caramelized brown sugar, honey and muted tropical fruits. Short finish is woody with a slight bitterness. -
Plantation Pineapple Stiggins' Fancy Rum

Stagg Jr Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch 12
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 11, 2020 (edited December 22, 2020)Thick, rich and intense with brown sugar, cherry, leather and oak notes in great harmony. Whereas No. 13 was super hot with less ABV, No. 12 requires no water. Near perfection in a bottle. -
Kilkerran 12 Year
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed October 10, 2020 (edited January 14, 2021)Neck pour, first impressions: Semi-sweet, oily, full, smoked ham, brine and light peat. Delightful! -
Teeling Small Batch Irish Whiskey
Blended — Ireland
Reviewed October 9, 2020 (edited November 7, 2020)Inauspicious start with a hint of green bananas, cereal and allspice on the nose, a longer time in the glass reveals a nice chocolate note. It makes up ground quickly with a sweet, silky entry on the palate followed by a plethora of notes, chocolate, cherries, vanilla, caramel, toffee, nutmeg and allspice, none overpowering, all enjoyable. The finish is a little spicy and medium length.
