Plantation Multi-island XO
Aged Rum — Caribbean, Multiple Countries
Reviewed January 6, 2021 (edited January 16, 2021)This is a 2017 Hi-Time Liquor store pick. Rums from Guyana, Barbados, Trinidad and Jamaica are aged 10 years in Bourbon casks, then 2 years in Cognac casks and finally 1 year in Peaty Arran Scotch casks. Part of Plantation’s Single Cask line. Not sure how that works. Bottle 266 from cask no. 3 41.7 ABV Nose - Chocolate cream puff, Hershey’s chocolate syrup, banana, hazelnut, barrel spice, coffee liquor, hints of mango, vanilla and cinnamon. Palate - Almost silky with balanced sweetness, much more barrel spice than the nose, molasses, chocolate, vanilla, a little coffee and a hint of mango and orange. Finish - Medium length with the barrel spices lingering until the end. Good stuff. -

Angel's Envy Cask Strength Bourbon Finished in Port Wine Barrels (2020 Edition)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 1, 2021 (edited March 19, 2022)I found this to be a thicker, richer version of the standard Angel’s Envy. It was a bit closed off at first, but opened up with time in the glass. Port, oak, cinnamon, molasses, leather, light caramel and vanilla all mingle together. The high proof added heft, but was certainly not overpowering, very drinkable neat. -
Breckenridge Rum Cask Finish
Bourbon — Colorado, USA
Reviewed December 28, 2020 (edited July 22, 2022)Only had a small sample, but it seemed overly hot for 90 proof, likely because of its young age. The heat really distracted me from some nice typical bourbon and spiced rum flavors. Better on ice. Whiskey, the only world where being young and hot is a bad thing. -
Hennessy Pure White Cognac
Cognac — Cognac, France
Reviewed December 27, 2020 (edited January 2, 2021)Nice, but nothing outstanding from many other vsop cognacs. Perhaps fresher is taste, not as much prune. Maybe the rarity makes people rate it higher. -
Plantation Barbados XO Amburana
Aged Rum — Barbados
Reviewed December 27, 2020 (edited January 2, 2021)Smells and tastes like a Mexican coffee with a little spice thrown in. Finish is short. Quite tasty.
