    Thick, rich and velvety with molasses, dark coffee and some rum funk. Sweet, but not cloying, probably the least sweet rum I have yet tasted. Coffee is not my thing, I go back a forth between yuck and this is amazing. I'll settle on 4 out of 5 stars.

    Can't get past the smell of arc welder on the nose. The palate has an unpleasant hot metallic note which dominates, there's some fruity notes in the background trying to come through, you also feel the full heat of the 120+ proof. The finish is hot and long, towards the end some actually pleasant rum type notes appear. Tried it with water and it was slightly better, just can't get rid of the hot metallic notes. Bottle kill 10/30/22. Still funky and hot, the fruity notes are more prominent, the metallic note is almost gone, very faint.

    Subtle with floral, vanilla and honey notes. A little smoke too. Feels light yet rich at the same time. Very nice whiskey.

    Butter, malt, citrus, grass and a hint of berries on the nose, palate and medium finish. There's some pepper heat on the palate and finish. The empty glass smells of buttered sour dough toast, malt and berries, not for long, but it's glorious while it does.

    Beautiful purple/violet color in the glass. Definite floral nose with roses and violets, there's some fructose hiding in the background too. Sleek entry on the palate with candied orange and vanilla, it's sweet but not cloying. The finish is short and sweet but leaves an imitation vanilla note on the tongue. Now to figure out what to do with it.

    After my brush with the delightful 1991 vintage, I decided that I needed one of these bottles for my own collection. Fat chance of finding a 1991, but I headed down to Old Town Tequila figuring they might be my best chance of finding one locally. Thank goodness they are still allowing walk in customers, albeit with a mask and a max of 4 at a time. After 20 minutes of pulling and checking every bottle of Plantation rum I could find in their exceedingly disorganized shelves, I found this 2003 vintage. I quickly pulled up the Distiller app, checked the reviews, saw Cascodes excellent notes and pulled the trigger. On to the tasting. Nose: Rich vanilla, caramel, molasses and some type of dried fruits. Palate: Perfect sweetness level, rich with caramel, vanilla and molasses. Finish: Medium length with a tinge of spice, the caramel and vanilla are sustained. Another delightful Plantation rum.

    Only had a small sample from a buddy, but wow! Amazing rum. Light bodied, velvety mouth feel, perfect amount of sweetness, molasses and light spices on the finish.

    Strong oak initially on the nose which disipates to reveal nutty sherry, rich sherry on the palate, spicy long finish. Kinda one note, but each sip gets better than the last.

    Strong vanilla and ethanol plus some baking spices on the nose, more vanilla with coconut cream pie and some prickly heat on the palate, finish is long and spicy.

    Burnt brown sugar, vanilla and baking spices on the nose, rich and luxurious entry on the palate with vanilla and baking spices, long finish matches the nose. The proof does not show while drinking, but it sure shows up later. Superb!
