Auchentoshan Three Wood
Single Malt — Lowlands, Scotland
Reviewed February 3, 2020 (edited September 14, 2020)The nose is sherry, jammy fruits and stewed prunes. It reminded me of the rancio aroma you get from a great, old cognac. The palate is soft with chocolate covered raisins, over ripe stone fruits and some woody notes. The finish is medium length with lingering PX sherry. I enjoyed this immensely. It's quite a sweet whiskey, but not cloying. -
Review #300. It's been about a year since I really started to try and expand my whiskey experience, and 9 months since I found the Distiller app. During that time I've tasted some great whiskies, some crappy whiskies, and many in between. To paraphrase someone famous 'Wow! What a ride so far!' I have also read many fine reviews and have come to value the many varied opinions I find here. I wish i had the trained nose and palate of some and the eloquence other other to write well articulated reviews. But I am who I am and my generally simple reviews reflect that. With that said, on to the review! Nose: Vanilla, coconut creme and marzipan cookies. Palate: Silky with vanilla, creme brulee and almonds. Finish: Sweetness mixed with bitter almond on the medium length finish. A bit of a let down for #300. I have tasted a few single grain whiskies and have been favorably impressed by the older ones. I had high hopes for this bottle because of its high marks in both the professional and user reviews. It is from batch 2018-B, bottled on 20/06/2018.

TINCUP American Whiskey
Other Whiskey — Indiana (bottled in Colorado), USA
Reviewed January 31, 2020 (edited February 1, 2020)About as substantial as the tin cup that comes with the bottle, yet I can't stop drinking it... Not much more than a hint of vanilla, rye and mint on the nose, palate feels thin and watery with a little vanilla, the finish is medium length with a hint of spice. -

Glen Scotia 15 Year

If you like Sinatra, and I do, this is a must for your collection. The bottle and packaging are top notch. If only the whiskey itself were so good. Smells like regular old JD#7, it is more palatable though, a bit silky even, but not much different in the flavor profile, the finish is long, spicy, smokey and quite enjoyable.
