Delord Bas Armagnac Napoleon
Armagnac — Armagnac, France
Reviewed November 7, 2019 (edited December 31, 2023)Red wine, strong ethanol at first which fades with time in the glass, faint figs and prunes on the nose, the palate is a little grainy, coating, semi-sweet with raisins, it goes down slick, the finish is medium length with the figs and prunes making a reprise. -
Redneck Riviera Granny Rich Reserve
Flavored Whiskey — USA
Reviewed November 7, 2019 (edited November 8, 2019)Similar to the standard Redneck Riviera with musty corn and ethanol, but with more vanilla plus some baking spices, the palate is creamy and a little spicy with some sweet corn and vanilla, the finish is medium length and warming with the sweet and spice interplaying. -
Uncle Nearest 1856 Tennessee Whiskey (Sourced Whiskey)
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed November 1, 2019 (edited August 14, 2022)Pecans, cinnamon and honey on the nose. Hot on the palate with a hot short finish. Edit 8-14-22: Haven’t touched this in almost two years. The bottle is still almost full. The heat has dissipated. Still get the pecan, cinnamon and honey combo on the nose and palate. It’s solid, simple, enjoyable. A little bitterness on the finish. Bumped 1/4 point. -
Glenglassaugh Evolution
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed October 31, 2019 (edited March 8, 2020)Caramel, vanilla, coconut creme and a hint of smoke on the nose, hot entry on the palate with more caramel and vanilla, plus some stone fruit, these all coninue into the longish finish. These tastes, scents and sensations seem to morph as I get deeper into this pour and into the second. I think I'm gonna like this scotch even more as I work my way through the bottle. -
Angel's Envy Bourbon Finished in Port Wine Barrels
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 29, 2019I'm digging the port on this otherwise pretty standard bourbon. -
Jim Beam Signature Craft Quarter Cask Finish
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 28, 2019 (edited November 16, 2020)My favorite Jim Beam product so far. I get the typical corn, vanilla and peanuts on the nose, but more subdued, with mild sweet merlot, semisweet entry on the creamy and round palate, the finish is medium length, and makes me feel like a swaddled baby, all comforted and content.
