Very subtle peatiness, an very little smoke on this if any. Floral notes come forward on the 2nd nosing. Citrus an white raisins on the second taste. Finish is complex and carries the citrus through with a bit of peat again at the end. I found this to be very pleasant. Got this through a tasting pack from Flavair. I don’t think I would spend more than $50-$60 a bottle on this, but it would definitely be worth it at that price point.

I picked up the vanilla and a little bit of the cinnamon roll, but I was not able to pick up the pear in this whiskey. If I were to have an every day drinker I would prefer Writers Tears over this. Far smoother as an Irish whiskey, Writers Tears is superior to Roe & Company and more than likely at a lower price point. This wasn’t bad, but not great either.

Rhetoric 25 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 14, 2018 (edited February 24, 2019)One of the best tasting bourbons I have EVER had. For my palette, I will take it over van winkle bourbon any day regardless of year. (And yes, I’ve had pappy 23 at a whisky tasting event.) Complex is usually not a word used to describe bourbon, but this is the exception. This noses as dark dried fruit, like figs and cherries with allspice and oak in the background. A deep rich scent that reaches into your sinuses and tickles your brain. The taste up front is smooth and sweet with the spiciest of the rye coming through that first swallow. As it hits the back of your tongue, ghosts from 25 years in the barrel rise up, letting sample a variety of oak tones as it fades into a slight sweetness and after tones of vanilla. An amazing sip of history that will be remembered long after the bottle runs dry.192.0 USD per BottleWhipsaw Wine & Spirits -
Barr an Uisce Wicklow Rare
Blended — Wicklow, Ireland
Reviewed October 6, 2018 (edited June 26, 2019)A solid Irish Whiskey, it brings a little more spice being aged in the bourbon barrels. However, those same barrels bring a little more depth to this offering. The sherry cask rounds out the sharp edges nicely, keeping this a very drinkable Irish whiskey with a light, smooth finish. Vanilla and honey up front, mild spice with dark fruit in the middle, and a light caramel finish at the end. -
Unimpressive, yet drinkable. It’s not that it’s a bad scotch, it’s just too flat across the flavor profile; like it is trying to be the “everything” scotch. I’m finding it better mixing it with a splash of Glenmorangie, Macallan, or even monkey shoulder greatly improves the taste profile. I probably wouldn’t buy it again.45.0 USD per Bottle
