Tastes

The Jury is still out on Wyoming bourbon for me. I have been passing it up on my shelf for other bottles of similar quality/price point. It's not that it is bad Whiskey, it's just that the particular batch is unmemorable. I think the small batch bourbon would be better suited for mixed drink status. With its heat and spice notes, it would probably make a hell of an old-fashioned.

Hard not to like this one. It was my introduction to "good" bourbon. Not too hot easy to drink with a pleasant aroma. I pick up the rye and some black pepper. Solid whiskey.

I usually find Canadian whisky a little on the sweet side for my taste. Thought I would try this since most reviews rated it pretty high and I would get a cool bottle topper in the process. I was happily surprised when I took a sip of this! Definitely more wood on the nose and palette than most Canadian varieties, especially on the back end. with caramel and just a hint of maple that really smooths this one out.

Borders on amazing. You can taste the mountain air in this with tones of oak and pinon pine. You can now get this in a port cask finisk also. I would rate that a "95" with 5 stars. Witha price point around $45 and $55 for the port finish, this is a bargain for an exceptional American Single Malt.

Smoooooooth and tasty. definitely taste the grain in this one. Almost like drinking buttered toast/ Drink it straight or blend with the 4 Grain Bourbon for and extra special treat.

Not sure why this is rated so low. A solid bourbon that I always keep in my rotation. heavy caramel and tobacco notes with a bold and unapologetic finish. Like the guy that pulls his welding truck into the last liquor store parking space in front of your wannabe monster truck. Frankly, I give this a solid "90".

Very fragrant, multiple spice notes throughout. Long finish with a little heat.

My current "house standard". This is a must to keep around for drop-in friends that like to suck down your good stuff. They won't feel slighted though when you serve this.

Good everyday drinker. Nothing spectacular, but very friendly and I wouldn't hesitate to serve it to company. The Buffalo Trace of Scotch.
