Kirkland Small Batch Kentucky Bourbon 7 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 20, 2018 (edited May 1, 2019)Heard about this and picked some up at a Costco to share with friends. Decent everyday sipper. A little heavier on the caramel and molasses notes that I was expecting for a bourbon. Probably a good thing since it comes in at 103 proof and it seems to tame the heat. More citrus than spice. Molasses tends to linger with a little smokiness after the finish. This would be an excellent choice to use in my bourbon pecan pie or my holiday bourbon pecan sweet potatoes.22.0 USD per Bottle -
Everything that I love about Tullamore. The bourbon, rum, and sherry casks give it a longer more complex finish that’s fruit-forward with plum and a little spice on the back end. Is it really worth a 4 rating? More like a 3.75, but if I’m going across the pond for my whisky, it is in my top 5 under $75.00 USD, so I will give it a 4.

After having Michter's at a downtown Denver watering hole I thought I would pick up a bottle. This stuff was kind of the "coyote ugly" of whiskey, great at the bar, but then I got it home and it wasn't the same the next day. Sweet and chewy with a strange finish that I was unaccustomed to in a bourbon. This one has been on my shelf for over 5 months and still about 1/2 full. Right now I would trade whats left for a nice bottle of Buffalo Trace. Unimpressed.

Weaver's American Light Whiskey
Other Whiskey — Indiana (bottled in Colorado), USA
Reviewed December 18, 2017Really flat profile. You could call it "Corn Squeezin's" and be done with it. For some strange reason, I keep coming back to it. It's almost like moonshine light. That corn sweetness and about half the heat of a corn mash moonshine. It's actually quite good mixed with black iced tea and cranberry juice on ice. I think it's a good experimental whiskey for mixing what would normally be high-octane drinks. Not one that I want to drink straight and assign a profile to though..... -
Wyoming Whiskey Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Wyoming, USA
Reviewed December 18, 2017 (edited April 18, 2018)The Jury is still out on Wyoming bourbon for me. I have been passing it up on my shelf for other bottles of similar quality/price point. It's not that it is bad Whiskey, it's just that the particular batch is unmemorable. I think the small batch bourbon would be better suited for mixed drink status. With its heat and spice notes, it would probably make a hell of an old-fashioned. -
I usually find Canadian whisky a little on the sweet side for my taste. Thought I would try this since most reviews rated it pretty high and I would get a cool bottle topper in the process. I was happily surprised when I took a sip of this! Definitely more wood on the nose and palette than most Canadian varieties, especially on the back end. with caramel and just a hint of maple that really smooths this one out.
