Nose: limestone, pear, baking spice, cigar box Taste: all the same tastes as on the nose but intense - wham! - wave of heat, cherry & limestone with subtle wood & a bit chemical/medicine on the finish. With a cube: nicer fruit flavors softened up at the start, finish more cherry and less harsh Will need to try this alongside the Rare Breed, but i dont remember the intense aftertastes on that one and might enjoy that a bit better

Nose - vanila rum banana - enjoyable here! Taste - Carmel to start, cherry moving to tobacco smoke, almost peaty on finish . Mild proof, can sip neat. Not very sweet With cube : just smears out all flavors, probably not enough proof for ice. Enjoyed this, but the tobacco finish isn’t my normal flavor profile. Good on occasion.

Nose: pear plum Taste: starts mellow, fig, bitey burn, then slightly peaty smoky like a scotch for a brief moment, transitioning to more of a tabacco & oak flavor which slowly fades in strength and a little caramel and plum come back on the finish With ice: nicely softens the harsh transitions above, smoothing it all out. More carmel thru the taste and softens the tobacco. Overall intersting pour. Definitely more scotch than bourbon due to the lack of sweetness.

Bulleit Bourbon Single Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 23, 2024 (edited March 25, 2024)Nose : super interesting carmel, pesr, bananna Taste: starts with the carmel and pear, before the burn with pepper and resinous wood, then aftertaste has a bit of chemical flavor that longers on the pallette with the continued carmel and pear. The finish doesnt do it many favors, and other than the initial nose not super complex With a cube : opens up the finish better and cuts the chemical flavor alot thru much of the taste but the finish still has it. Enjoyed this, but wont likely rebuy. -
Old Forester Single Barrel Bourbon Barrel Strength
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 2, 2024Color: deep deep carmel brown, looks amazing Nose: pear , cherry, bananna, hint of heat, just a bit of the cigar box wood, …awesome Taste neat : pow punch in the nose with the proof. Black oepper quick First taste tho is cherry cough syrup & licorish too intense neat fades very very slowly to a nice tobacco finish if youre patient Cube: still a bit too much, gets to just lots of wood mid-taste, mellows out a bit more over time, less intense but no new flavors. Enjoyable with the ice, but too much heat and cough syrup flavor without. -
Oak trail spirits pick Nose: just a nice warm hug of ethanol and rich vanilla , maybe a hint of cherry in there. You can tell it's gonna be a bit hot, but all good smells Taste: consistent with the smell. Get a bit of cinnamon with the burn, hints of oak. Then on the finish some chocolate and a definite tobacco note that lingers in a good way. With a cube: more or less the same, just a little less bite Overall: super pleasant, not too complicated but a solid pour. Would rate 3.9/5

Weller 12 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 20, 2023 (edited February 10, 2024)Huh…did this one in a blind tasting / group share. Smelled ok, tasted good, not a ton of complexity. Lower proof, so about the same neat or with a cube. Nothing to dislike about it, just nothing super interesting going on. Way different than the Stagg i had recently and really enjoyed, this was just ok.
