Mind blown on this 2012 bottle. A unicorn that lives up to the hype! Caramel, vanilla, cinnamon, etc. - this is the everlasting gobstopper of all the classic bourbon flavors. Heavy viscosity that coates the mouth. At 140+ proof this is a very easy drinker. Just an amazing bourbon! My scale: 1 - I’m giving this drink away 2 - I’ll mix it, but doesn’t stand on its own 3 - Enjoyable, but I’m willing to try something new 4 - Very good, If it’s on the shelf or menu - I’m buying 5 - Greatness Achieved, this drink is worthy of collecting

It’s good but not great. I picked up on earthy tones but didn’t get a ton of the rye spice. It’s a thinner body than I would have expected. At $30 I’d pick up a bottle and give it a shot but I’m not clearing the shelves. Hits with consistent heat through the palate which I like. Spice, leather, cherries notes. Easy finish. Very good bourbon but this bottle labeled Spring 2013 not worth price tag to me. Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2016
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 28, 2020 (edited July 12, 2020)Very smooth on the palate and finishes with caramel, nut bread, vanilla. Delicious. If it were more full bodied this would check all the boxes, just a bit thin to me. This is high on my list for everyday drinker! On the nose all the classic bourbon tones with some heat. Nice weight to the body. Vanilla custard cone on the nose. Sweet on the palate with a good heat - vanilla, some orange, oak. Nice sweet finish, more orange.
