Aultmore 21 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed February 24, 2020 (edited October 14, 2021)I have been seeing this bottle in almost every duty free there is, and since it is not a very famous whisky, i always wandered why is it selling so good. Tonight i tried it and now i know: it is a great dram. Known as the "Foggie Moss", Aultmore 21yo is an speysider in every sense of the word, Super fruity and easy drinkanble. Bottled at 46%abv, amber color. On the nose it is a fruit salad. Very clean aromas, easy distinguishable. Pineapple, Pear, Apples; A little almost inexistent pepper. A small peat note. Peaches, Cinnamon and mostly Pineapple marmalade. On the palate, it starts very spicy, which is not the usual, to then deliver a fruity punch. Grapefruit, pineapple and lemoncello. Aftertaste is very different from the rest of the dram. An Ashy - peaty note appears out of nowhere. Overall, this is a very good dram, i am actually surprised. It is not cheap, but i think you are getting your money's worth. 92 over 100. Sláinte! -
This was a lovely dram that one friend shared me a glass of it, you can only get it in the Auchentoshan distillery. They even bottle it in your presence. This is a 54.2%abv cask strength, bordeaux cask, distilled on 25.09.2008 and bottled on 14.02.2018; beautiful chesnut color. On the nose is quite appealing. I am not a fond fan of Auchentoshan, i find it to be a little too "irish" in its style, but this is definitively my favorite one. Coffee, Chocolate, Lemon, Merthiolate, Super powerful aroma, Lavender, Oranges, Milk chocolate, Floral. Everything is going on here. On the palate is also very nice, like Lemonade with spices. Pepper bomb, Malt, Chocolate, milk powder. A very short clove finish, cost it some points on my chart. Nicely balanced. Overall this is a nice dram, i dont think its very accesible, but it is my first bordeaux cask, so if you ever get an auchentoshan matured in a bordeaux cask, it should be like this one. 87 /100. Nice.

Wow, what a surprise. Let me start by telling you that i have felt usually dissapointed by Auchentoshan in various occasions, and it even gave me the feeling that "no lowland is good whisky", but today i am reborn in Lowland because of this great dram, who reminded me of Glendronach. Auchentoshan Solera is a $160ish expression that has been finished in Pedro Ximenez sherey casks (i did not knew this before drinking it), and it has been bottled at 48%abv. It has a very beautiful deep copper color. On the nose, this is as perfect as a whisky can be: Old blackberries, Old grapes, Coffee, Refined tofee. Superb aroma, best i have had in any auchentoshan. Lemon. A very very dim burnt grass. The prunes notes on this are something else. Grapefruit. Everything feels like old: Old library, Old caramel; After first sip the chocolate powder and milk chocolate explodes. This is amazing. Almonds, Toblerone; Orange chocolate. 25 out of 25 here. And it should get extra points. On the palate, it is a little watery, but manages to get the job done. Sherriness is present. Oak spice. Reminds me too much of glendronach 21 because Chocolate and old sherriness is everywhere. Aftertaste takes the game back to its peak, with a slightly bitter, complex finish. Chocolate powder; Some super pleasant spiciness, Sawdust, Ginger. Feels Very thick. Clean tobacco. Overall this is an spectacular whisky. It only geta 92 over 100 due to the palate been too watery, but it surely feels like more. If you can find it, grab it. Sláinte mhath!

Auchentoshan 12 Year
Single Malt — Lowlands, Scotland
Reviewed February 24, 2020 (edited October 3, 2020)On the nose is a little dim, but you get Sweet aromas like honey, Plum, caramel and Lemon Very Pleasant flavor, woody, nutty flavor. Caramel is also present. Finish is medium, pleasant. I love sweet whiskies, and this is a great one. I really enjoyed this dram, very recommended -
Oh my god this was a bad whisky. A expensive (250$) beautiful bottle, Macallan Aera Royal Black is a expression that only came out for the taiwan travel exclusive market, in order for Macallan to enter that country with strength... i dont think they have accomplished it. I am not a fond fan of Macallan but i did not expect it to be so bad. I organized a tasting event and this was the main attraction... and it dissapointed everyone. Bottled at 40%abv On the nose, it WAS AMAZING. and that is how it scored the only 2 stars it has. White Kit Kat chocolate, pineapple, grapefruit, Lime, old pineapple slices, sawdust. On the palate, it was not good. There is some very dim almonds and white chocolate somewhere there but it is mostly WATER AND LETTUCE. Have you ever found Lettuce notes in your whisky? Well they are just bad. There is no aftertaste. Note one note. Is like drinking water. ZERO POINTS. Not one note. Overall this is terrible. If it weren't for the nose, this whisky could even have a lower score. I was in a tasting event, so 20 people agree on this. Luckily we had another 3 drams, and that saved the night. This is one of the worst whiskies i have ever had, avoid it, dont waste your money. 43 over 100 (scoring notes: nose 23, palate 10, finish 0, balance 10).

Wtf i just drank? Nobushi is a blended japanese whisky with a nice looking bottle of a NOBUSHI which seems to be some kind of selected peasant warriors from the land of the rising sun. This is a blend from the Hokkaido, Nagano and Miyagi district. The result is.... nothing. Lets start. Bottled at 40%abv, burnished gold color. On the nose: odd from the very first moment you open the bottle. There is this cheap lemon / air freshener for cars aroma. Rice, fermented fruits and a cheap dried fruit aroma. Grain whisky. AND THIS WAS THE BEST PART. Then, the palate. It is water With a touch of vainilla and a very dim grape note. Aftertaste is awful. Corn and acetone. Feels very young and grainy. This is the remain of some grain whisky distillation. Overall, this is something you must avoid unless you are going to trick some non-drinkers into believing this dram is some kind of "an acquired taste" and you are some kind of a Connoisseur, hahaha. 45 out of 100 and it really should have a lower score. Kanpai!

No. This is not a joke. This is Wayne Gretzky's whisky. Nobody knows what ice casks means nor is important. A canadian whisky, made by "Wayne Gretzky's estates". For you who dont know who Wayne Gretzky is, he is the Pelé or Maradona of ice Hockey. Bottled at 41.5%abv On the nose, RYE. Lots of it. Rye spiciness, grain, herbal notes and molasses. Its like rum and rye whisky mixed together. After the first sip, maple syrup notes appeared on the nose. On the palate, very straightforward: rye spiciness and bitter prunes. Aftertaste is full of chilli. Overall this is something i wouldn't buy, but an interesting whisky to come by, to know what sports stars are up to these days. 58 over 100.

Wild Turkey Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 24, 2020 (edited February 29, 2020)I have had the 101 Wild Turkey and i remember that one been a good dram, well this is not my kind of bourbon. Way too herbal, oaky and burning. Bottled at 40.5%abv On the nose it has the typical bourbon notes but not as pleasant. Prunes. A Stinky bourbon note, Banana, Cinamon and vanilla. On the palate is too herbal and unpleasant, for me. Caramel, Herbal Clove unpleasant. much too herbal. Very young oak. The finish is too cloying. Overall i give this dram an 56 over 100. Some people might like it, not my case. -
I am going to be as honest as possible here: DO NOT BUY THIS. This is not even Japanese Whisky, is scottish matured in japan. Even the NAS expression is better. Pale Straw color, 40%abv. On the nose, it is nothing. Rice and soap. But very dim. On the palate is spicy with maybe a wasabi/chilli note. Aftertaste is short with a small peat note and pepper. Overall i give this dram a very low score: 48/100. Not recommended.

Nikka Miyagikyo Single Malt
Single Malt — Japan
Reviewed February 24, 2020 (edited February 29, 2020)A total dissapointment. This review is actually for the Miyagikyo Single Malt NAS 45%abv. Good on the nose but completely regular on the palate. Bottled at 45%abv On the nose, Burnt cake crest, Pears, super fresh; Beautiful vanilla. Fondant. Pear juice. Very clean very fresh, Hints of coconut. On the palate, super boring. Pepper, A little vanilla. Very alcoholic and cerealic. Maybe a coconut note. Feels cheap. Aftertaste is harsh. Cereal /alcoholic. Ginger and a very little hint of chocolate. Dry overall. This whisky feels cheap. Even if it has a decent aroma, the flavor is nothing. Too young and harsh. 55 over 100.
