Highland Park Dark Origins
Single Malt — Orkney, Scotland
Reviewed August 21, 2022 (edited October 3, 2022)Not a huge Highland Park fan but I really like this one. Very nice nose and the sherry is definitely there. It cuts the peat a little but not all. Even though it’s NAS it still drinks a little older to me. Really good! -
Edradour Caledonia 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed August 5, 2022 (edited February 16, 2023)This is one of my all time favorites. I can’t believe how blown away I was the first time I tasted this one. So dense and rich and the sherry just smacks you. This was so far in another direction from what I was drinking at the time. If you love the sherry you have to grab this one. Edradour is at the top of my list! -
Blue Spot 7 Year Cask Strength Single Pot Still
Single Pot Still — Ireland
Reviewed August 4, 2022 (edited August 30, 2023)Wow is this one interesting. So much going on. The whisky is delicious. It shifts flavor profiles as you drink. From the core of a yellow spot to a rich sweetness and mouth filling flavors. It lingers very long and nice. The tiniest drop of water opened it up. Great straight but the addition of the drop was better for me. Love this one! -
Springbank 12 Year Cask Strength
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed July 31, 2022 (edited February 16, 2023)Have loved Springbank for a while and finally tracked this one down. It doesn’t disappoint. All of the great things that you love about springbank but amped up a little. More of the funk and the bourbon and sherry influence are both there. Really nice rich whisky. Glad I finally got one. -
Kilchoman Calvados Finish
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed July 31, 2022 (edited September 15, 2022)What is not to love about Kilchoman. Even an average one is better than a lot of whisky. The calvados influence isn’t very strong. However the core of this pour is excellent. Great bottle and clearly Kilchoman. I’m not disappointed but would have loved a touch more apple. -
Laphroaig Càirdeas 2022 Warehouse 1
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed July 29, 2022 (edited October 14, 2022)I’m really enjoying this one. A little off profile but in a good way. A touch of sweetness from the Makers barrels and the salt/brine is definitely there but for me it’s not overwhelming. It almost tingles on your tongue on the finish. I think it’s worth a pick up if you are a peat fan. -
Deanston 12 Year Old 2008 Oloroso Cask Matured
Single Malt — Highland, Scotland
Reviewed July 24, 2022 (edited November 21, 2022)This is outstanding, if you are a sherry fan it’s a must try. I love the sherry bombs and this does not disappoint. Really nice quality whisky and the finish is just what I was looking for. Pick this one up. -
Couldn’t agree more with the other reviews. This has so much going on from lemon to sweet to peat smoke to coffee. It is crazy. Very unique. Not as refined or even close to the Glenmorangie Signet but make it younger and add some peat and lemon and you may be close. Crazy good. Could also be a love it or hate it whisky. I love it!!
