GlenDronach Original 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed April 3, 2020 (edited April 10, 2020)This dram is special. Very dark caramel color. Butterscotch, pulled taffy, molasses, vanilla cream, raisin with nuts. You also get a hint of orange peel and brown sugar. Mouth feel is viscous and creamy. The finish is long and warming with more butterscotch and a little leather and pre-smoked pipe tobacco. -
Really interesting dram. The initial scent I find is fresh hay. Cereal, a bit of citrus zest, cinnamon and clove are also there. Full mouth feel and very smooth but then something really interesting happens after the slight heat at the end, all of a sudden is gone with such a subtle finish. It is like star fruit if you have ever had it. You eat it and it is crisp and juicy and once you swallow, almost nothing. 🥃

Macallan 12 Year Sherry Oak Cask
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed August 31, 2019 (edited October 20, 2019)A friend of mine bought a bottle of 18yr Macallan and I was lucky enough to get a pour! I think I was just as happy to sit and smell the dram as I was to imbibe. I can’t afford the 18yr but decided to pick up a bottle of the 12. I have had it on occasion when I have been out but it is nice to add to the collection to have when you need a great scotch. Cheers! 🥃 -
For those familiar with Grand Marnier this is the pear equivalent. The essence of Williams pears infused with Brillet cognac. They use roughly 20 pounds of pears per 750ml bottle. One memorable pour involved my wife making pear crisp with some vanilla ice cream and a snifter of Belle de Brillet. So tasty!
