One of my go-to rye whiskeys for manhattans and old fashioneds. Nose carried wafts of dried rye grain and dried seasonings, Italian seasoning. Palette starts off slightly seeet corn, floral, and briny. Then develops into a nice rye pepper taste, finally finishing with oak and slight char. Finish is nice and oily and stays with you with a nice heat.

Delicious well balanced Japanese whiskey that is reminiscent of a highland scotch along the coast. The nose is that of oak and orange being smoked. Palette is complex and incredibly well balanced. Rolls it across your tongue for fruit and spice flavors, hints of rye, briny sea notes and a slightly smoky peat. Finish is nice and long, tingles the tongue, mostly smoke and spice.

Four Roses Private Selection Single Barrel Barrel Strength Bourbon (OESV)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 1, 2019 (edited January 11, 2020)Single barrel, 106.4 proof. Palette is full of cinnamon apple and cherry flavors with a lingering bubblegum aftertaste. Deliciously fruit forward, one of my favorite 4R recipes. The finish carries with the oily bubblegum but short lived. -
Four Roses Private Selection Single Barrel Barrel Strength Bourbon (OESQ)
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed May 31, 2019Payless Parker Liquors pick. 120.64 proof. Delicious honeysuckle nose, very little heat for the proof. Hard to describe... bitter (but in a good way) floral notes, banana, a little mineral taste, very complex. Finish is thick and destructive to the palate, a little water really mellows and thins it out. -

Reviewed May 31, 20195280 Whiskey club pick. 112.6 proof. Sweet floral Caramel corn nose. Palette is nice and spicy with some creamy cherry and cacao nib. Finish is tingly and spicy with a nice leather, tobacco, wood linger that is hot and oily for a higher rye. -
Weller Special Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 21, 2019 (edited August 3, 2020)Argonaut store pick. Nose is very light with notes of floral, sweet corn and soft milled wheat. Fruit is cherry and pear. Body is exceptionally light and smooth, which although great lacks in complexity. Pear and caramel apple are are the forefront with some slightly bitter floral tastes at the rear. Light, semi dry body. -
New Riff 4 Year Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 11, 2019 (edited May 12, 2019)CBRC pick “choose booze, you win”, 111.6 proof. The comments reveal all, Carmel popcorn with candy corn, vanilla and oak. Oily bourbon. Nose is highly ethanol, and caramel. Finish is short and full of bubblegum flavors. Good Dessert bourbon, cool bottle, originally thought it too sweet but it’s grown on me. -
Barrel K772 | 14 years | 95.52 proof The CBRC “shopping spree” pick. Extremely enjoyable glass of bourbon. One of the smoothest barrel proofs (albeit low proof) I’ve tasted to date. Load of cinnamon and burnt honey, slight stone fruit on the nose. Palate is similar with the addition of a little oak, banana and a little pipe tobacco / vanilla sweetness to it. Finishes nice although short, makes me want more and more.

Great bourbon but not my favorite. Can find it for decent prices, or can find it for stupid secondary prices. Lots of heat with this guy, but a nice smooth kick you in your neck heat. Cherry, plum, banana, honey, vanilla and oak linger in this full bodied, oily nectar. A little bit of water works well here.
