Torabhaig 2017 The Legacy Series
Single Malt — Skye, Scotland
Reviewed July 27, 2021 (edited November 11, 2022)I'm surprised how much I like this, given how young it is. Reminds me of Ardbeg's wee beastie in a lot of ways. Salt, peat, and iodine, some sweetness on the body, smouldering smoke on the finish. Would buy again, and excited to try more from this distillery as they release more. -
Salted caramel and spices on the nose, body is very rich with more spiciness. I'm not getting as much of a sea influence as I expected, and also wouldn't have guessed this was a Campbelltown. Maybe the Sherry finishing is covering those notes. Easy drinking, but don't think it's unique enough or a good enough value to buy again.

It's been a little while since I've had the 12 year version, but the 14 does taste smoother. I wonder if this wouldn't have been better if they did 12 years in original cask + 2 in port, vs 10 in original and 4 in port--the sweetness is a little much for me. BUT, it's very nice. Nose has a lot of maple syrup--so much so that I can't pick up other notes. A bit of spiciness and bite on the finish, which is when you're reminded you're not drinking an actual port! Not sure I'd buy again, but wouldn't turn it down.

Kaiyō The Single Mizunara Oak Finish
Blended — Japan
Reviewed April 21, 2021 (edited April 22, 2021)I've enjoyed this bottle quite a bit. The mizunara really does add a lot of uniqueness. Vanilla sweetness, butterscotch, spice, and incense on the nose. Body is smooth and creamy, with the flavors really expanding in your mouth. Tannins on the finish. Would buy again. -
Kilkerran 12 Year
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed March 24, 2021 (edited March 27, 2021)This is really nice. Initially when I opened the bottle I didn't get much from it, but as I'm made my way through I like it more and more. Tastes much more complex. Nose has slight peat, BBQ, apples. Creamy sweetness comes through on body. Finish is smooth with some tannins. -

M&H Whisky in Bloom Young Single Malt Lightly Peated
Single Malt — Israel
Reviewed February 14, 2021Lots of mustiness, so I was really surprised how young this one is. A little water brings out a candy sweetness on the nose. Sweetness and earthiness continues on the body, with a little tartness and tingliness on finish. Looking forward to trying more from this distillery.
