Very, very sweet nose--kind of a sweet, syrupy, grape and honey taste. This reminds me of the Rozelieres whiskey from France, which have a cognac taste. Body is viscous, and the finish is smooth with orange and dark chocolate notes. Very drinkable. Reminds me more of port than whiskey. Don't think it's worth the price tag, though--you can get a comparable bottle aged in sherry/port casks for a lot less.

This grew on me, so I'm glad I waited until the end of the bottle to write the review. A little vanilla, caramel, and shortbread on the nose. Reframing the shortbread as Irish soda bread (which I love and has a similar note) makes this one resonate more with me. Body is smooth with medium viscosity, and the finish lingers with apples and spice. Would be interested to try more from this distillery.

Compass Box Flaming Heart 15th Anniversary Limited Edition
Blended Malt — Scotland
Reviewed December 6, 2020Heavy peat with a bit of sourness on the nose. Bit of a sour, harsh finish--thought this would be better for the price, but still good. -
Weller Antique 107 Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 4, 2020 (edited December 27, 2020)Heavy vanilla on the nose, along with cinnamon, rye, and candy sweetness. Reminds of the nose on a sweeter Merlot. Viscous body, with a very long, nice finish of red hots/cinnamon, and a bit of corn. -
Apple juice, banana, honey, elmers glue, and caramel. Maybe a bit of nail polish remover. A little malty, with some cherry. Very nice stuff. Was very surprised to learn it's an Irish--I would have bet anything it was a Speyside. I'm also surprised this has a lower rating than the 12. I definitely prefer this one.

Paul John Edited Single Malt
Single Malt — Goa, India
Reviewed October 21, 2020 (edited October 22, 2020)I was surprised how much I liked this bottle. Nose is subtle, with malt, cinnamon, mint, caramel, apple, and pear. There's also a bit of iodine/band-aids, but very slight. Body is light but creamy, with a finish that's longer than expected and a bit peppery. Would definitely buy another bottle, and I'm excited to explore other offerings from the distillery. -
Longmorn 2003 Distillery Labels (Gordon & MacPhail)
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed October 20, 2020Hot pancakes with butter and lots of syrup. Viscous body, with a peppery/spicy/tart finish. This is so, so good. Already want to buy another bottle! -
Lagavulin 9 Year (Game of Thrones-House Lannister)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed October 16, 2020 (edited May 12, 2021)This really got better as I got further into the bottle. Very heavy bananas initially, but now it tastes more integrated with the other notes. Nose has peat, rubbery plastic, and bananas/banana bread. Palate is sweet and spicy with some BBQ. Got this bottle for mid $30s, and it's definitely worth at least twice that.
