Caol Ila 12 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed September 15, 2020 (edited September 16, 2020)Slight smoke, spicy pears on nose. Can also taste black tea and salt, with slight smokey meat on the finish. Very nice, would buy. -
Glenlivet 12 Year Double Oak
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed September 13, 2020 (edited September 25, 2020)Some bready/cereal, apple, and spice on the nose. Vanilla comes through on taste. Not a whole lot to say about this one, but that's not a bad thing. Some burn at the finish. Wouldn't buy per se unless cheap, but happy to drink it. -
Bunnahabhain 12 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed September 13, 2020 (edited September 16, 2020)Butterscotch, toffee, and apple juice on the nose. Taste has a bit of saltiness to it, with a tiny sourness on the aftertaste. Would never have guessed this was from Islay. Would buy, and makes me want to explore more of their range. -
Glen Garioch Founder's Reserve
Single Malt — Highland, Scotland
Reviewed August 16, 2020 (edited December 23, 2021)Sweet honey, spice and heather on the nose. Body rich and full, with apple tartness on the finish. Really enjoyable bottle. Drinks smoother than it's 48% would indicate. Would have assumed Speyside. -
Kilchoman Machir Bay (2014 Edition)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed August 12, 2020 (edited September 14, 2020)Not sure if I'm tasting the 2014 or a different year. Intensely smokey on the nose, but a different kind of smoke than I expect from Islay. It smells lighter, less earthier. Body is spicy and smooth, with a tangy finish. I like this a lot, and definitely want to try more from this distillery. -
Craigellachie 13 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed July 18, 2020 (edited September 14, 2020)A very nice, prototypical Speyside. Honey and apple pie on the nose, with more of a candied sweetness on the body. Finishes long and smooth, with a bit of tartness. 1-2: shots only 2-3: sippable 3-4: would buy again 4-5: permanent collection
