There's a reason these bottles are so highly sought-after. Don't be afraid to add a drop a water or two to get it to the right proof for you. Smells like a warm cinnamon cocktail. After watering down a bit, I get some fruity notes (maybe kiwi?), baking spices, and then I get this weird note that I can only describe as Play-Doh... I recognize the note from Blade & Bow. Finish is all the same flavors. Duration is proportional to the amount of water added. Great bourbon. Higher proof than needed, but all that means is flexibility to get exactly what you want.60.0 USD per Bottle

Early Times Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 21, 2021 (edited February 6, 2022)Maybe the best value in bourbon... I don't say that lightly. Remember that's a $24 LITER... Not 750ml. 👃- Let's you know what you're getting into. Nothing too out of the ordinary. 😋 - On the palate, it's lovely. Classic vanilla and caramel notes. Again, nothing unique here; just bourbon done well. If you aren't into neat pours, this would make a superb Old Fashioned. 👋 - Bottled-in-Bond (which is always 100 proof), so it has a bit more heat than many entry level bourbons, but it isn't overpowering and finishes smooth. This is one of my top 3 go-to's for a pour later in the night 👻 not always looking to critique the subtle nuances on different parts of my palate 🤣24.0 USD per BottleBasecamp Wine & Spirits -
1792 Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 21, 2021 (edited February 11, 2022)Usually love Bottled in Bond pours, but this one didn't do it for me. It's not bad - there is just a unique flavor in there that you either like or you don't. It's not for me. For context, I'm not a fan of the other bottles in the 1792 lineup I've tried either, so maybe if you are, this one could be worth a shot.55.0 USD per Bottle -
Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 27, 2021 (edited July 5, 2021)Pretty hot on the nose. There's vanilla and oak in there if you look for it. I needed a little piece of ice to access the flavors here, but once I did, this stuff is great! Not too complex or unique, but just good juice. Finish is as it should be. Not too hot, but you definitely know it's there.56.0 USD per BottleArgonaut Wine & Liquor -
Woodford Reserve Wheat Whiskey
Wheat Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 10, 2021 (edited January 28, 2022)This could be the most inviting nose in whiskey. I don't want to exaggerate because I've already had a few, but holy sweetness... Cherry bannana vanilla dessert. All of that and more are there on the palate. I like to drink this with a small piece of ice as it's even greater chilled. Finish isn't too crazy, especially drinking with a small piece of ice, but it goes down smooth and has a sweet, enjoyable finish if you're looking for it. In summation: if you're looking for a sweet wheat whiskey, look no further. This is readily available and reasonably priced. My only con would be that I don't always want something this sweet.38.5 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More -
Old Forester 100 Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 8, 2021 (edited April 2, 2021)This or Early Times BiB is the best value buy in American whiskey. Nose is sweet and surprisingly smooth. Palate is more complex than almost anything at this price point. And the finish had a tiny bit of ethanol, but is otherwise everything you'd want it to be; especially when you add a small ice cube. This is available in a 1.75. Therefore, you should have a 1.75.38.0 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More -
Didn't love this the first time I tried it. I was getting a peaty note that didn't do it for me. Glad I gave it a second chance. This could be my fave nose ever. The sherry cask finish is obvious. There is still a peaty note on the palate, but I'm learning to appreciate it. Feels like an extremely complete whiskey. Closer to a dry Japanese whiskey than a smokey, peaty Scotch. Finish is everything you'd think it would be. A little spicy neat, but I love it.

Maker's Mark Private Select Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 7, 2021 (edited March 2, 2022)For the record, mine is from 'Total Wine CO Recipe 6'. Same proof as pictured. Little bit proofy on the nose, but sips like high end MM juice. I expected a little sweeter like 46, but the sweet, oak-y finish isn't quite as pronounced as expected. Finish is nice and sweet, but not as hot or complex as finished. This one had a small ice cube. Next pour of this will be neat.
