Barrell Rum Private Release Blend J650 (The 9th Floor)
Aged Rum — Multiple Countries
Reviewed September 4, 2022Straight up rum on the nose. Doesn't even smell like whiskey. I get some herbal notes on the palate, but if you'd have told me this was spicy rum with a little coconut, I probably wouldn't have argued. More of the same on the finish. Coconut Jamaican rum.The Bluegrass - Candelas -

π: For potentially the highest proof whiskey I've ever tasted, the alcohol isn't overpowering. I had a glass of Stag Jr (at a lower proof) earlier, and this is so much more... pleasant. π: Obviously high proof, but actually manageable neat in small sips. Lots of fruit. Dry tobacco. I'm getting... rose petals? A little distilled water reveals more cherry and caramel. π: Cherry and caramel come through, but the oaky notes dominate. Again, this is a spicy one, but try adding a splash of water to make it more accessible if necessary.69.0 USD per BottleDenver

π This blend is called Butterscotch Sundae and it's obvious why from the nose. Sweet sundae with bananas & caramelized pecans. π OoOoOo she thicc doh. Great mouthfeel with more of the same. Maybe a new citrus element on the tongue. Tangerine? π Even harder shift to the acidic/citrus notes. Still nice and sweet, but definitely something interesting there.Total Wine & More

Michter's US*1 Sour Mash Whiskey
Other Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 29, 2022 (edited October 30, 2022)π smells like bourbon. Nothing special here, but nothing offensive either. π This is the highlight. A little spicy, but we've got cinnamon, vanilla, and (strangely enough) watermelon. π This one really takes you on a journey. Picks up where the mouthfeel left off, but ends up in a very different place. I guess this is why they call it sour mash... The finish is a pretty weird... Sour... Taste -
Russell's Reserve 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 24, 2022 (edited July 29, 2022)I was excited to try this Wild Turkey product (even though I'm not a big fan of the WT 'funk') because I thought 10 years in a barrel would make it special. On the nose, my thought was so far, so good. Super smooth with minimal alcohol burn. But unfortunately... The taste just didn't do it for me. Still had the same 'funk' I don't love about something like WT 101. Same for the nose. It's not offensive - just not something I'd pay $50 for.35.0 USD per Bottle
