Decided to try this one after realizing how much I like Woodford Double Oaked. Price adjusted, this is better. At not much more than regular MM, I'll probably keep this one on the shelf. Its definitely a sweet, finished whiskey, but still has plenty of proof and complexity.25.0 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More

Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series 2020 SE4 x PR5
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 4, 2021 (edited March 21, 2021)This is the sweetest smelling 110+ proof whiskey I've ever poured. I'm drinking side by side with MM 101 AND MM 46. This bottle combines the best of both. More complex and high proof than the 101, but goes down just about as smoothly as the 94 proof 46.65.0 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More -
High West American Prairie Bourbon
Bourbon — (bottled in Utah), USA
Reviewed February 10, 2021 (edited March 10, 2021)Nose is a little spicy for 92 proof. Nothing special here. Drastic improvement on the palate. I remember thinking the neck pour was boring, but now that it's opened up, it's more complex than I remember. Classic caramel bourbon with a bit of a rye kick. Finish is more of the same. If you like a little bit of the High West rye note, this is a great bottle for the price. If you REALLY like the High West rye note, I've heard their Double Rye is one of the best bangs for your buck on a rye whiskey.27.0 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More -
Old Forester 100 Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 9, 2021 (edited May 10, 2021)This could be the only bottle that I think is actually worth 2x what I paid. This is the best bottle of whiskey under $30.23.0 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More -
The first time I tried this I wasn't too enthused, but it's growing on me. Something I found in my first sip just didn't sit right, but I've learned that swishing this around to every part of the palate (including under the tounge 😬) opens up a ton of different flavors. My favorite so far is a cinnamon and brown sugar note that is subtle, yet satisfying. Now I'm interested in trying the Sweet Wheat and Aged 12 Years versions.28.0 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More

Was stoked to finally see this one on the shelf and had to pick it up. Would have guessed a higher proof from the nose. Definitely some heat, but there's some brown sugar hiding in there. Tastes great. I could drink this all day. Definitely BT juice, but nothing super special IMO. Second sip was a little sweeter. Still interested in trying other EHT pours. Finish is real nice. Maybe the best part. That heat from the nose carries through here for a full bodied finish.40.0 USD per BottleTotal Wine Spirits & More

This is the quintessential classic bourbon IMO. Nothing overly complex, but there is absolutely nothing offensive on the nose, palate, or finish. I'm a big fan of pouring a bourbon like this over some frozen mango chunks. Lower temp helps access all the flavors of the bourbon without actually affecting the taste (at least not right away), and then you have an amazing snack at the end of the glass!23.0 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More

I was too harsh the first time I tried this bourbon. I've learned that even with the low proof stuff I at least like to chill it with a whiskey stone or tiny piece of an ice cube. After letting this bottle breathe for a while and then chilling my dram, I'm a fan. Smooth, smooth, smooth. Nose, palate and finish are all light caramel and brown sugar notes with some charred barrel; especially on the nose.42.0 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More
