Talisker Select Reserve (Game of Thrones-House Greyjoy)
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed September 24, 2022Smoke, peat, brine on the nose but with some additional citrus, maybe some orange. Taste is peat forward with notes of apples or citrus and moves into a nice spice finish. Solid Islay option but the first taste doesn’t have much stand out in particular. -
Joseph Magnus Triple Cask Finished Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (Finished and Bottled in Washington DC), USA
Reviewed September 24, 2022Very smooth and flavorful. Caramel and oak forward with a very rich and complex nose. I feel like I would get something new each time I sipped this. Dark, oaky, good spice, but low burn on the taste. It reminded me of the Dickel 15 but easier to drink and with slightly better flavor. Would love to find a bottle. -
Jefferson's Single Barrel Straight Rye Whiskey Finished in Cognac Casks (Randall's Wines and Spirits)
Rye — USA
Reviewed September 24, 2022 (edited January 16, 2023)Enjoyable rye, not sure the one taste I had showed much that stood out but was a solid rye. -
Yellow Spot 12 Year Single Pot Still
Single Pot Still — Ireland
Reviewed September 24, 2022 (edited October 19, 2022)Very flavorful. Sweet, honey, vanilla, oak and spice on the nose. Taste follows through on the smell and is quite complex. Very enjoyable and smooth but a lot of flavor, finishes pleasant and sweet. Exceptional. -
Oban Little Bay
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed September 20, 2022 (edited January 16, 2023)Honey, apple, walnut and caramel on the nose. Really interesting taste that I wasn’t expecting despite the reviews. I don’t even know how to place it, I get caramel, citrus, smoke, leather, spice, chocolate, and I’m not sure what else but it seems to work. I definitely need to revisit this but interesting mix that’s a bit different than scotch I’ve had so far. -
Warm, peaty, meaty, buttery nose. Taste comes in smoothly, doesn’t jump out at you but before you know it you have full peated flavor with a bit of spice. Might have sightly more bite and spice to it than the 16 but not overkill. Nice finish with smoke and spice that gives you a nice tingle for a bit.

Macallan Double Cask 12 Year
Single Malt — Highland, Scotland
Reviewed September 17, 2022 (edited January 16, 2023)Honey, apples, butterscotch and spice on the nose. Taste comes in smooth and sweet with a hint of spices adding some oak notes. Medium mouthfeel and moves nicely into a balanced finish. Very enjoyable. -
Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed August 27, 2022 (edited January 16, 2023)Very light. Citrus and zest on the nose. Taste is pleasant, apples and a bit of spice. Mildly hot but not bad for 100 proof and it’s a refreshing taste. Finish lingers nicely of spice and a bit of citrus. Nice option.
