Johnnie Walker Green Label 15 Year
Blended Malt — Scotland
Reviewed December 17, 2022 (edited January 16, 2023)Very interesting blend. Nose is reminiscent of a johnnie walker but with speyside notes, refreshing with honey and citrus. Taste is a unique balance of the Islay and speyside flavors that’s balanced nicely. There’s definitely some smoke and peat but it’s not the defining feature. Iodine, citrus and honey are also present. It’s smooth and enjoyable, the finish isn’t the longest but I’m really enjoying it. -
The Glenrothes 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 17, 2022 (edited January 16, 2023)Sweet and refreshing, what you’d expect. I had a small taster at a store. It was enjoyable but for the 50+ price point, it’s not something I’d rush out to buy. -
High West A Midwinter Night's Dram Act 9 (All Scenes)
Rye — (bottled in) Utah, USA
Reviewed December 17, 2022Nose: mild rye with some sweetness and pine. Taste: smooth and sweet, rye is balanced and not overpowering, slight dark fruit, raisins maybe in the middle. Finish: very balanced and long, lingers forever it feels like, very pleasant. -
Westward American Single Malt Cask Strength
American Single Malt — Oregon , USA
Reviewed December 16, 2022 (edited January 16, 2023)Very medicinal and fruity nose with a lot of oak. Taste comes in medicinal but moves into dark raisins in an unpleasant way. The finish is the worst part, it has a finish and aftertaste I can only describe as “rotten”. It’s very smooth for 125 proof but the flavors are just not pleasant. -
Color: Light, white wine Nose: Drier peat smell, something a little tangy, maybe some grapes in there too. Taste: Dry peat on the initial taste, moves into some spice but flavor expands a bit into some mild butterscotch or berries to keep the peat from being overpowering, but the middle is a little washed out.
