Fox & Oden Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Bourbon — Indiana, USA
Reviewed November 19, 2022 (edited December 29, 2022)Very smooth. Darker nose, oak, caramel, toffee. Taste comes in smooth, a little sweetness but a lot of flavor. Moves in to a little spice and a nice long finish. Want to do a head to head with JM. -
Dewar's 15 Year The Monarch
Blended — Scotland
Reviewed November 16, 2022 (edited November 29, 2022)Sweet, mellow, honey, butter, citrus on the nose. Taste matches the nose, more on the honey and butterscotch. Somewhere between Johnnie Black and Monkey Shoulder. Decent. -
Nice briny nose of peat, oil, and varnish. Taste is definitely heavy on the peat as its reputation would suggest but it’s balanced by other flavors as well, maybe some meat and tar. The finish is fantastic and goes on and on. I would reach for the cup out of habit then realize I’m still enjoying the last sip. It moves into just enough spice to give you a nice tingle.

Reviewed October 13, 2022 (edited December 5, 2023)Warm sweet nose, caramel, honey and oak. Taste is sweet and nutty with honey, vanilla, and caramel that fades into a bit of oak and spice. Medium to light mouthfeel and not the longest finish but enjoyable. -
Knob Creek 18 Year Bourbon 30th Anniversary (2022 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 13, 2022Very unique. Nose was very wood forward with some floral notes and maybe pine. Taste comes in slightly sweet with a floral taste and remains quite wood forward but I get a little caramel in the middle as well. It’s complex with a decent amount of spice to it but not hot. Medium mouthfeel with a long finish. -
Barrell Bourbon Single Barrell Cask Strength Z5C4
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed September 29, 2022 (edited June 20, 2024)Solid bourbon nose to me. Dark, oaky, touch of caramel and butter, bit of leather and maybe cinnamon. Taste comes in with some spice, cinnamon, oak and caramel that matches the nose. Very flavorful. Finish coats the mouth nicely and gives a nice tingle to enjoy as it fades but doesn’t have too much burn to it.
